It proved to be a hugely successful weekend for two of Dundalk’s finest athletes with Kate O’Connor finishing third at the European Multi Events Team Championships in Monzon, Spain and evergreen Collette O’Hagan winning gold at the Energia24 World Championships in Belfast. Sixteen-year-old Kate O’Connor from Belfry Gardens on the Avenue Road made a huge impression in her full senior international debut at the European Multi Events Team Championships in Monzon. Competing alongside some of the finest heptathletes in Europe Kate produced a magnificent performance to finish third Kate O’Connor with parents Michael and Valerie. Calls for a safe road crossing at Tain Bridge By Paul Byrne Dundalk Cycling Alliance have called for a safe road crossing for walkers and cyclists at the Táin Bridge. In particular they are aiming to make the journey to school safer for pupils who live in Ard Leathan. Last week councillors Peter Savage and Mark Dearey were presented with 130 signatures from the residents of Ath Lethan requesting safe road crossings for walkers and cyclists to local schools and shops. Dundalk Cycling Alliance presented the signed request to the two councillors last week to highlight the issue. Full Story Page 2
