LOUTH County Council’s Chief Fire Officer has claimed it would be impossible for any County Council to inspect and certify all buildings with regards to fire safety. Instead local authorities hand out fire certificates based on the design and information handed into them by developers or owners. Eamon Woulfe was speaking in the aftermath of the ongoing issues at Ath Leathan which have left residents living in eight apartment blocks facing eviction unless remedial works are carried out in order to bring the buildings up to the required safety standards. Celebrations continue at the Marist
The celebrations at St Mary’s College will continue this week when the new school building will be officially opened on Friday May 6. The site was provided by the Marist Fathers who have been Trustees of the college since its foundation in 1861.
