David is star on internet By Conall McCann A Dundalk musician has become an overnight internet sensation after an impromptu performance in a taxi was viewed almost three million times across the globe. David Keenan, who is a regular on the local music scene, hit the media spotlight after his song was recorded by a dashboard camera and uploaded onto Facebook. Tests show town water is safe to drink By Paul Byrne

Louth County Council has confirmed that water testing by Irish Water has failed to identify any risk to the public water supplies in Dundalk. The confirmation follows recent reports from a Sunday newspaper which alleged that toxic waste from illegal fuel plants from South Armagh were poisoning the Dundalk water supply. The report alleged that waste flowing from an illegal fuel plant in South Armagh was en-

tering Lough Muckno, Lough Ross and the Fane River, which is the main reservoir for the whole of Dundalk. However, Irish Water have eased any fears for the people of Dundalk by confirming that all tests carried out throughout 2014 and early 2015 have been compliant with Drinking Water Regulations, as Paddy Donnelly of Louth County Council confirmed. “Irish Water has confirmed that water testing has not identified any risk to the public water supplies in Dundalk

and additional specialist testing is also being carried out. The last test to be carried out on the drinking water was the 6th January 2015 with the previous test being on the December 9, 2014. “All tests were clear and compliant with the Drinking Water Regulations. We carry out statutory compliance testing on the drinking water on the Dundalk supply at various locations throughout the network”, Mr Donnelly explained. “A total of 75 compliance tests were carried

out in 2014 which is approximately three times what we are statutory obliged to do under the current Drinking Water Regulations. All sample test results taken on the Dundalk supply throughout 2014 were compliant with the exception of one instance of lead detection. The investigation of this lead non-compliance showed there was no lead on the public side of the public water supply”, concluded the statement. Follow up sampling has been arranged for this week in Dundalk and at the River Fane

and the results will be made available next week. Sinn Féin Louth TD Gerry Adams welcomed the findings from Irish Water whilst also hitting out at what he called ‘baseless claims made in the media”, with regards to Dundalk’s drinking water. “A recent Sunday Independent story sparked unfounded fears in the south Armagh and north Louth areas of serious pollution from a fuel laundering plant. Residents of the Dundalk area will be reassured by the confirma-

tion from Uisce Éireann that there is no risk to their drinking water”, explained Mr Adams. “I welcome Uisce Éireann’s diligence in deciding to carry out additional tests and to introduce other measures to protect our water system. However none of this can detract from the fact that baseless claims were made in the media about the water system being poisoned and the genuine fears of citizens were cynically exploited by some politicians whose only interest was in attacking Sinn Féin”,

Local woman Sara Dooley will say farewell to her 20 inch locks at a public head shave in McGeough’s Bar on Saturday February 21. Sarah will sacrifice her hair as part of the Today FM Shave or Dye campaign which raises much needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society. Sara, originally from Chapel Street but now living in Dromiskin was inspired to join the Shave or Dye campaign after her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer late last year. “My sister thinks I’m stone mad for even thinking about shaving it off but I’ve decided to do it now and there’s no turning back. Thankfully she has responded well to treatment and is doing well now but seeing what she went through and how cancer affects people made we want

Woman refused to pay taxi fare A woman who became abusive to a taxi driver and refused to pay the fare, was told that if she made a contribution to charity she would avoid a conviction. Dundalk District Court heard that at 2.22am on Friday January 9 Colette McCabe of 3 Mullaharlin Park, Dundalk, was taken to Dundalk Garda Station by a taxi

driver who said she refused to pay. She was abusive to the driver and was arrested for her own safety. Solicitor, Frank McDonnell, stated that 33-year-old is a carer for her parents and her record in terms of public order is important to her. He said that she was on a night

out and had ordered a taxi to go home, but things deteriorated after that. She doesn’t have much memory of the incident. Judge Grainne O’Neill heard that the taxi fare had been paid and stated that if €150 was paid to North Louth Hospice by February 18 the Probation Act would be applied.

Boxers raise funds for The Birches By Paul Byrne

White collar boxing makes its return to Dundalk this month as Dealgan boxing club bring back ‘The Contender’ in a fundraiser for the Birches Alzheimers Day Centre. Thirty six brave souls, the majority of whom have never stepped into a ring, have signed up for the event which will take place in Oriel Active on Saturday February 21. Each contestant is currently being put through their paces by some of the finest boxing coaches in Dundalk as they prepare to step into the ring. Anto Donnelly, a coach in Dealgan boxing club, is looking forward

to the event which promises to be a great evening’s entertainment. “This is our fourth year of the contender and it’s been a great success for us so far raising lots of money for local charities and this year we’ve decided to have it in aid of the birches alzheimers day centre”, revealed Anto. “We have 36 contenders this year many of whom have absolutely zero boxing experience and we are currently getting them prepared for the big night. We have men and women taking part and they are from all around Dundalk and Newry. “We raised over €11,000 last year for the Cara Cancer Care Cen-

tre so hopefully we will be able to raise a few bob for the birches this time around”, he added. As well as being put through their paces stretching and conditioning work followed by circuit training, bag work and finally technical training the contenders have to prepare their ring walks which is always one of the highlights of the night as each boxer enters the ring for their big fight. The husband and wife folk duo delighted their captivated audience with an upbeat blend of fiddle and guitar music for 20 minutes. “We picked two schools to perform in to promote Feile na Tana so we did a concert in Dun Lughaidh and

A number of workshops will take place at St Oliver’s Primary School, Carlingford the following day. Well known musicians Seamus Begley and Donogh Hennessy will give a concert with special guest artist Padraigin Ni Uallachain later that night at 7pm. The Foy Centre will also host a Tutor’s Concert on Sunday, February 8 at 2pm and there will be an Irish language table quiz in The Granvue Hotel, Omeath at 8pm, followed by a music session at 10pm.

Louth set to escape firefighter cuts By Tamara O’Connell

LOUTH looks set to escape proposed cuts by the Department of Environment which would reduce the number of firefighters across the country. Louth County Council (LCC)

has no plans to reduce the number of retained firefighters currently employed in Louth, according to LCC spokesperson Paddy Donnelly. “We have a total of 45 retained fire-fighters of which nine are assigned to Dundalk. The others are

assigned to stations at Drogheda, Ardee, Dunleer and Carlingford”, said Paddy. “Louth County Council has no plans to reduce the number of retained firefighters currently employed.” SIPTU members in the Retained

Fire Services are to ballot for industrial action over fears reduced crewing levels will pose risks for firefighters. It follows a directive - issued by the Department of the Environment - which would see attending crews reduced by one member.

Retained firefighters are fully trained, but are not employed on a full time basis and are instead paid on a per callout system. The Department insists changing the crew number would simply keep Ireland in line with international norms.

Three students from the Dundalk School of Music can be heard on national radio this Friday evening as they show off their talents on Lyric FM in a programming highlighting the best of music schools around the country. The students got to work with the prestigious Royal Irish Academy of Music during the programme which was recorded late last year. Erin Myers (vocal), Jack Bellew (guitar) and Robert Mee Lucey (Piano) were picked by director of Dundalk Music School Patricia Duffy to take part in the Lyric FM production and all three performed

brilliantly in front of their proud teachers. Patricia was delighted that the trio got a chance to perform for the national radio broadcaster and is looking forward to listening to the final result this

The Dundalk School of Music has been on the go for six years and is located in Blackthorn Business Park on the Coe’s Road offering a wide range of music lessons to children and adults. The show will broadcast this Friday evening at 7pm on Lyric FM.

How to make your CV work for you Worklink are running a CV Workshop “Make your CV work for you” on Wednesday February 4 from 7pm to 9pm in O Fiaich College, Dundalk. This workshop is intended for people who want guidance on how to write a CV and what to include in it. The session will include tips on making a good first impression on an employer. It will also include information on producing an effective cover letter. Worklink volunteers will be there to answer your

questions and give guidance on what employers look for in job candidates. Ceinwen Fergus, Worklink’s North East Regional Coordinator, said “Many people find they need help when applying for jobs. Our workshops give participants a chance to find out what employers and business people are looking for. We are able to provide guidance from HR professionals and career coaches who can give jobseekers useful hints on how to get their CVs noticed. All our events are run

by volunteers.” Worklink is a volunteer organisation which provides information and support to unemployed jobseekers. It has been active in the North East for nearly two years and has helped over 100 people in the area with CV and interview preparation. Man made advances to girl on bus A man who had little recollection of a number of crimes, including touching a girl on the thigh on a bus, was told to use his time in custody constructively in order to turn his life around. William Joyce of 9 Aghameen Park, Dundalk, was sentenced to three months in prison and had another nine month sentence suspended for nine months.

The court heard that on May 8 last year, the defendant was seen leaving a house in Broughton St, although no property was stolen. On August 25 at 6.15pm at Long Walk Dundalk he was arrested following a suspicious approach to a 15-yearold girl. The girl had been on her way home on a bus when the defendant started to touch her upper thigh a number of

times. He also pleaded guilty to failure to appear at court on June 19 and May 28, 2014. Mr Joyce had 130 previous convictions and his solicitor, Aonghus McCarthy admitted that he had an appalling record, adding that a drug addiction is the root of his problem as he steals to feed his habit. He stated that the defendant had little recollection of the

incident at Broughton St as he was intoxicated and on drugs, but no violence was used and nothing was taken. He added that he also had no recollection of the assault. The defendant had been in custody since his arrest as he wanted to get clean and that had been the case for three months. Mr McCarthy asked Judge Flann Brennan not to increase his period on incar-

A woman who admitted buying alcohol for three juveniles in a pub was fined €200 at Dundalk District Court. Renaie McCabe of 16 Mulholland Ave, Dundalk, who was 18 at the time, pleaded guilty to the offenceat McManus’ Bar, Seatown, on May 24, 2012.

The court heard that Gardai entered the pub where they saw four people at a table with alcoholic drinks. Three of the girls were under 18 and Ms McCabe admitted buying drink for the group. The defence solicitor stated that Ms McCabe was in the com-

pany of ladies slightly younger than her and had produced ID when buying the drink. He added the client, who was never in trouble before, apologised for the offence. Judge Flann Brennan imposed a €200 fin on a charge of purchase of alcohol for delivery to persons underage.

Dragons Den comes to Monastery NS Ardee There was great excitement in 6th class at Monastery NS on January 30 as the Dragons Den arrived to listen to four business pitches from pupils. Sixth Class were pitching four different business ideas at the three dragons, Willie Martin of V & W Recycling, Principal Mr McGee and Deputy Principal Mr McCreanor. This work forms part of their participation in the Junior Entrepreneur Programme in County Louth and is co-ordinated in school by class teacher, Ms Maxwell. During the programme pupils use their

creativity to come up with business ideas, they choose one idea and then work to turn it into reality over a 10 to 12 week period. They’ve got to

do the hard work - researching what customers really want, working out their costs and how much to charge for it. They figure out what

they’re good at and try to use those skills to play their part in a team. Along the way, they’ve got the support of their classmates, teachers

and family. Through the programme, pupils get a clear picture of what creating a business involves. The boys of Sixth Class were divided into four groups and pitched four business ideas at the dragons; a board game called Sammy’s Mansion, a flower / vegetable container from recycled plastic bottles called Flower Power, a board game called World of Ardee and a school calendar idea. The dragons were very impressed with all four business ideas and questioned the boys thoroughly about their

prototype products, setup costs and marketability. After careful consideration the dragons decided that the best business concept was Flower Power, the flower / vegetable container from recycled plastic bottles. They felt the concept was unique, had low setup costs and would have a great potential market. Willie Martin of V&W Recycling said that he was amazed at the ideas the boys had and praised Monastery NS for being involved in the innovative Junior Entrepreneur Programme. He said it was

great to see the future entrepreneurs of Louth being encouraged and developed at primary school. He wished the class well in their development of the product and donated a one tonne bag of compost towards the project. So far Monastery NS 6th class have completed up to step 3 in JEP and local businessman, Patrick Joy, Suretank, Dunleer, also visited the class in January to share his story and to advise the pupils about how to ensure their Junior Entrepreneur Project is a success.

Old Dundalk Society Golden Jublilee Fire at amusement

There was a large attendance at the Golden Jubilee celebration Dinner which took place in the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Wednesday January 28. Michael Gaynor, President of the Society, in his opening address, gave an overview of the development of the Society since its inception in 1964.Michael stated that many of Dundalk’s foremost historians have been actively involved with the society

over the last 50 years and have contributed greatly to its success. He also recalled many memorable events that took place in the town during the life time of the Society. Michael suggested that the Old Dundalk Society remains to this day a vibrant ‘tour de force’ in fulfilling a very useful function in the civil/cultural live of Dundalk town by popularising local history and culture.

The after dinner lecture was given by Paul Gosling (Archaeologist) Lecturer at the Galway Mayo Institute, who gave a very interesting perspective on Dundalk’s historical past, and the influences historical events had on the inhabitants of the town from the 12th century up to the 1990s. Paul’s lecture received enthusiastic applause from the large attendance. Hugh Smyth continued the after dinner theme with

recollections from his early years growing up in Dundalk. Hugh encouraged the gathering to participate, and relay their own stories of what ‘life was like’ growing up in Dundalk in the early 60s and 70s.There was an enthusiastic response to his request, and as a result much laughter and storytelling ensued, which lasted well into the late evening. A very enjoyable night was had by all.

arcade in Dundalk TWO fire engines were called out to Park St. on Sunday evening as Brannigans Amusement Arcade and Bureau de Change caught fire at approximately 8:30pm. The fire service spent three hours at the scene after the alarm was raised shortly before 8.30pm with neighbouring buildings asked to evacuated their premises.

One full time and one retained engine attended the scene. There was damage to the ground and first floors but nobody was injured. It is thought by fire officers that the fire was started accidentally but a full investigation is now underway as to the exact cause of the fire which has caused considerable damage to the ground floor.

Threw rocks at windows A man who pleaded guilty to causing €1,400 worth of damage to houses along with another man was fined and ordered to pay compensation when he appeared at Dundalk District Court. Martin McDonagh of Apt No

8 Blackrock House, Newtown Ave, Blackrock, was identified on CCTV throwing rocks at windows in Termonfeckin. Barrister Irene Sands stated that the co-accused is making efforts to pay his share of the compensation but that the

21-year-old Mr McDonagh had little reality of doing likewise. She added that a suspended sentence might help his behaviour. Judge Flann Brennan imposed a €100 fine and ordered the defendant to pay €700 compensation.

A feature of Maxi’s taxi is that he sometimes records his passengers and on this occasion asked David to play a song. The young musician played a song about Dundalk named ‘El Paso’ which David

penned when he was 15 and played it for Dundalk fan Maxi because of its strong link with the local football club. The video was shared and liked on Facebook by many of David’s friends and received wide attention with over 225,000 views on the video which brought notice to the upcoming singer/ songwriter’s ability.

“How fast the video spread just shows the power of the internet”, said a delighted David, while Maxi revealed that his “mind was blown” at how fast the video had grown over the last couple of days. David also said that he was getting contacted by the Irish all around the World even from the real El Paso.

The video made it to the Irish Mirror and Joe.ie, an Irish men’s lifestyle website, while David made an appearance on the RTE show ‘Today’ with Dáithí Ó Sé and Maura Derrane. There are over 2.8 million views in total from websites, radio stations and Facebook posts, giving David a great deal of unexpected exposure.

There was disappointment for Stephen Broadhurst at Friday evening’s National Boxing Finals as he was beaten on the judges’ scorecards by defending champion Michael O’Reilly at the National Stadium in Dublin. Stephen a ten time national champion at junior level was making his debut in the seniors this year and looked in great shape as he made his way to the final to face the champion from Portlaoise. However, it was not to be his night on Friday as an under par Stephen had to settle for second place as O’Reilly defended his 75kg middleweight title.

Stephen’s coach and father Tony admitted that defeat was hard to take especially as his son hadn’t boxed to his full capabilities. “We knew Stephen would have to be at his best if he were to beat Michael but unfortunately that wasn’t the case and Michael ran out a deserving winner. Stephen felt great in his warm up and loved the

atmosphere and the buzz of walking out in front of a big crowd but as soon as he threw his first punch in the fight he knew immediately that he wasn’t as powerful as he normally is and that he was in trouble”, revealed Tony. “It’s kind of hard to pin down what went wrong and I’ve been racking my brains looking for a reason why he wasn’t himself and all I can think of is that maybe his lack of sparring recently went against him. He has only been in the ring three or four times in 2014 and that probably counted against him. To be a national champion you have to almost train like a professional and realistically

you need a sponsor to allow you to fully concentrate on the boxing and not have to worry about going to work. Stephen was working all through December and although it was eating into his training time there’s not a whole lot you can do about it”, noted Tony. Reaching the senior finals at your first attempt is generally seen as a wonderful achievement in national boxing circles but that is of no consolation to Stephen who had his heart set on victory. According to Tony he will have a good chat with Stephen this week and make a decision on where to go next in the sport. “This sport takes huge commitment and dedica-

tion and I have to talk to Stephen now and see if he wants to continue. Personally I think it would be a travesty if he gave up as he is such a magnificent boxer but he’s an adult now and the decision will be his. Man is struggling with alcohol addiction A man who admitted that he is struggling with an alcohol addiction pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to provide a roadside breath test at Dundalk District Court. Peadar Rafferty of 3 Priorland Grove, Dublin Road, Dundalk, asked that a Probation Report be ordered in an effort to put him on the right road and this requested by granted

by Judge Grainne O’Neill who adjourned the case. The court heard that on February 28, 2014, Mr Rafferty was arrested for failing to provide a test. He was disqualified at the time as he had previously been banned for six years in 2008 for a drink driving offence. Barrister, Irene Sands, stated that her client had been at-

tempting to deal with his difficulties and asked for the court’s assistance in getting help. “There are numerous previous convictions for this type of offence and he is aware that he is at risk. His most recent offence was in 2008 and in the intervening period he has been trying to deal with an alcohol addiction”, she stated. Ms Sands added that the

54-year-old separated father of four is a chronic diabetic who can’t work any more. He is still struggling with alcohol but is dealing with his GP and awaiting a place in Sr Consillio’s. The barrister suggested that the Probation Service might be able to assist him. Judge O’Neill adjourned the case to May 6 for a Probation Report.

Cycling issue is complex Dear Editor, I have been criticised by local cyclists for saying that on the spot fines should apply to cycling on footpaths. I was thinking of the young man who ran straight into me as I was leaving the library at Roden Place before Christmas. He was cycling recklessly on the footpath and nearly knocked me to the ground. But my critics are correct in saying that the footpath is the only sane and safe place to be as you move out of town centre. For instance on the bypass or on stretches of the road to Blackrock. Indeed I use the footpath myself when I am heading up to DKIT from the Quay. So what the new legislation will lead to is demands for better cycling routes especially along roads with large volumes of heavy goods vehicles and fast traffic. And local authorities will need to respond. So for instance given the dangers involved currently, connecting Dundalk and Blackrock by cycle lane makes a lot of sense. All of this should be on the agenda for the roads engineers already and it certainly would be, if as is required by the National Cycle Policy 2009-2020, Louth County Council had appointed a “Cycling Officer....at Senior Level” I have raised this obligation with the County Manager and included it in my submission to the New County Development Plan. I look forward to its implementation and to the establishment by Council of a County Cycling Forum to drive network development and set high standards of road behaviour for cyclists and for drivers. I imagine an early target for redesign would be the cycle lane on Chapel Street but that’s another conversation..... Regards, Mark Dearey.

Dundalk RST Centre announce exciting new courses

Dundalk Regional Skills and Training Centre are taking final applications for a number of courses which are starting in Coes Road over the coming weeks. In 2014 Dundalk Regional Skills and Training Centre joined Louth and Meath Education and Training Board (formerly Louth VEC and Meath VEC) and together deliver programmes to thousands on an annual basis. They have created a dynamic new education and training entity and are one of the largest employers in the North East with the largest number of full time students. Recently they won an Outstanding Excellence National Award for their IT Certification. The Regional Skills and Training Centre follow the markets and meet the current training needs with courses in Financial Services Administration, Windows Server 2012 and Office Administration. These courses are long term courses from 31 weeks to 49 weeks and will have 18-20 in each class and are open for applications now. The Coes Road Campus would traditionally be known for its excellent apprenticeship courses including Tool Making Carpentry & Joinery, Plumbing, Electrical, Wood Manufacturing & Finishing, Pipefitting and Metal Fabrication. Students from all over Ireland come to Dundalk to undertake Phase 2 of their apprenticeship which is generally a four-year process. Dundalk RST (formerly Solas) is one of the leading Training Centres in Ireland and the places on their courses are much sought after. Farmers visit Oireachtas

Members of Louth IFA this week travelled to Dublin to meet with their Oireachtas reps to convey to their concern with the slow progress regarding the approval of the Rural Development Plan for 20152020. Chairman of Louth IFA Matthew Mc Greehan said that Rural Development Plan has been with the Commission for well over six months now and Irelands plan has still not been approved, the Government must ensure that the plan is approved without any further delay, last year the Government committed 46% matching funding annually to fund the RDP from 2015-2020 but to date no farmer is able to enter any of the schemes that are so vital to the rural community”. Louth IFA Hill Chairman Declan Mills said that one of key demands is that commonage farmers must be allowed the necessary flexibility to join GLAS and said that any new rules must be sensible and also provide the support and recognition to hill farmers for their land that was designated as SAC by the NPWS.

and is connected to Mrs. Lovett’s pie shop in nearby Bell Yard by means of an underground passage. In most versions of the story, he and Mrs. Lovett hire an unwitting orphan boy, Tobias Ragg, to serve the pies to customers.

Dundalk claim All-Ireland title Dundalk players celebrate with the All-ireland trophy on Saturday

THERE were scenes of jubilation on the Mill Road on Saturday evening following Dundalk’s stunning All Ireland Junior Club Champions. The 55-5 victory against Ulster’s Bangor seen Dundalk completely outclass their stunned opponents much to the delight of their loyal band of supporters who made the journey to Portadown. This was Dundalk's most comprehensive and finest performance since the Towns Cup final win in 2011 and according to player/coach Ene Fa’atu it ranks as one of the clubs finest achievements. “It’s a great feeling to be crowned All Ireland Champions and it’s just reward for all the hard work put in by everybody over the last year. Despite the scoreline it was a tough game and Bangor are a really physical top Ulster side but we played really well and made the most of our chances”, noted Ene. “We went in 19-0 at half time and we just told the players to keep on doing what they were doing and not to let up. We knew the first score of the second half was going to be crucial and thankfully we got it and we pushed on really well from

there. “I’d like to give a big thank you to the five bus-loads of supporters who came up to cheer us on as they gave us a big lift. You take a nervous energy into big games like this and when you see your sup porters cheer you on when you come out on the pitch it calms you down and gives you that extra little bit of determination to get the job done. “We’ll celebrate this victory for a couple of days and then we’ll get back to work and make sure we finish off our final three league games in style”, added Ene. Chris Scully opened the scoring for Dundalk with a fine try which was converted by Ultan Murphy to give the Mill Road team a dream start. Again Scully opened the Bangor defence and with a precision pass to Owen McNally , the winger went over in the corner and scored Dundalk’s second try after 22 minutes. Dundalk struck again before the half when Johnny Williams blasted his way through the Bangor backs and scored a terrific self made try. As half time approached Dundalk were 19 -0 up and dominating proceedings with Bangor struggling to breach a rock solid Dundalk defence.

The Mill Road side were in total control as the half time approached and the only fear the second half held would be that Dundalk would not continue with the same rigour. Those fears were soon alleviated as tries from John Smith, James McConnon and Ultan Murphy made it 36-0 after 65 minutes. Not satisfied Dundalk continued their assault continued Tiernan Gonnolly scoring and only minutes on the pitch Stephen Murphy scored Dundalk last try. With Ultan Murphy on kicking duty, Dundalk were 55-0 ahead, an unprecedented score at this level. With minutes to go Bangor did get over for a try, small consolation for a team that had been on the receiving end of a Dundalk display which left nobody in any doubt about the pedigree of this team. Teen needs help to avoid mixing with a bad crowd A 16-year-old youth who had drug problems and was mixing with a bad crowd asked to be detained in a detention school in a bid to help stop him from reoffending. The juvenile, appeared at Dundalk District Court, charged with stealing an ipad, iphone and vodka valued at

€620 from a room in the Fairways Hotel on January 1 this year. The defendant’s solicitor stated that his client had nine previous convictions and had been released from custody in August. Although things had gone well for him initially, he began mixing with his former friends and taking drugs

around Christmas. He stated that if the youth continues on this path then his prospects are poor. He said he has benefitted from a week on remand and being free of drugs but that doesn’t remove the fear that he will go back to crime. The solicitor stated that a return to Trinity

House was the best option in terms of education and support services. He is willing to stay there as he is not in contact with particular people and no access to drugs. Judge Flann Brennan remanded the defendant in custody to February 26.
