Gardaí refuse to rule out terrorism By Paul Byrne
Gardaí in Dundalk have described yesterday’s morning attacks around the town as ‘random and unprovoked’. They also refused to rule out terrorism following the attack which resulted in one man being fatally stabbed and two further men suffering injuries. An 18-year old Egyptian male has been arrested following the incidents which began at just before 9am yesterday morning. Gardaí were notified of an incident on the Avenue Road, outside the Medebawn estate, just before 9am and arrived at the scene at approximately 9:07am where they found an unresponsive male who had been stabbed. Crosscause fundraiser a success By Paul Byrne
The annual Crosscause fundraiser on Blackrock beach has once again proved to be a huge success with Conor Hughes and friends raising a very impressive €6000 for their eye clinic project in Ghana. Conor’s charity Crosscause has been helping the people of Romania, Moldova and Ghana for over ten years and his St Stephen’s Day get together is the charity’s main fundraiser each year. Last year’s Fr Ted themed event was a huge success with over €7000 raised which went towards the charity’s project in Ghana.
