Two talented young sport stars underlined their huge potential when they enjoyed success on the national stage in recent days. Golfer, Josh Mackin, and footballer Liadán Clynch grabbed the headlines when they claimed silverware in their respective sports. Dundalk Golf Club’s Josh followed in the footsteps of Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell by capturing the Ulster Boys U18 Championship, while Liadán helped the Republic of Ireland U-15 schools squad

to success in an international event. The 17-year-old Josh produced three excellent rounds at Donegal Golf Club to win the 54hole event by five shots and capture his second provincial title, having won the Leinster Boys U16 title in 2017. He opened with a five under par 68 and followed up with a 74 to keep himself in contention, before claiming a memorable victory on the final day.
