WINTER 2024

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

It’s Winter at Dunbar Community Centre! As I write this, we are busy preparing, with much excitement, for the Holiday Craft Fair and Tree Lighting. We are happy to continue to offer these events together and wind up the Craft Fair with the tradition we have to gather to hear the bagpipes and light the big and very old beautiful cedar tree in front of the Centre. Thank you to all of our vendors and sponsors and to those who attend! We look forward to welcoming children to our Spring Break Camps happening this March and planning will soon be underway for the Summer programs! We are holding an Easter Event which is happening on Saturday, March 30th 11:00am-1:00pm. Thank you to all our wonderful youth volunteers who helped with Dunbar’s programs and special events, such as our Indoor Trick or Treat, Craft Fair, and Breakfast with Santa. This Winter, we are bringing back Youth Dance Drop-in, Youth Basketball Drop-in and Teen Yoga with Carly. Also, check out the brochure for our new programs such as Pre-teen Art Club, Introduction to Creative Writing, and Peek into Business! We invite seniors in the neighbourhood to come and participate in Seniors Social Gathering, a nice safe place to hang out and meet new friends and current friends, with tea and small snacks on Tuesdays and table activities available on Thursdays. We would also love to have you join us on Saturdays for some fun social time and activities with our youth volunteers, including arts and crafts and knitting, and tea at our Intergenerational Community Connection Club. We are happy to share that our Artist in Residency project at the Dunbar CC will begin in 2024. We last hosted an AIC in 2015 and it left long lasting legacies and lifted community spirit. Thank you to the members of the Board, Centre staff, instructors and volunteers for their teamwork and efforts to provide diverse and inclusive programming and for providing recreational and social opportunities for the community. If you have program suggestions or are interested in volunteering at the Centre, please email us at dunbarcca@gmail.com. For any registration questions about existing programs, please contact Centre staff at: 604.222.6060. Sincerely yours, Vivian Xu PRESIDENT, DUNBAR COMMUNITY CENTRE ASSOCIATION
