Headmaster’s Welcome

Dumpton has suc h a r ic h histor y, being founded in 1903 in Broadstair s, Kent as a boys’ preparator y boarding sc hool. I wonder if the founder s of the sc hool in 1903 in Kent could have imag ined us gather ing here in 2024, celebrating the fr uits of their labour! The sc hool’s pupils were evacuated to Dor set dur ing the Second World War, and the sc hool itself was moved to Cranbor ne Chase in 1945 The four houses of Kent, Sussex, Hants and Dor set are named after that jour ney. After a spell at Gaunt’s House just nor th of Wimbor ne, the sc hool finally took situ here at Deans Grove in 1987 In fact some guests here tonight are amongst the pupils who spent the final two weeks of that 1987 Summer Ter m moving boxes and fur niture!

At Dumpton we are proud to promote and have the suppor t of local business. We care about our community, local economy and our environment, whic h is why we have c hampioned local for this event.
