The Homegrown Music Festival is Duluth’s annual showcase of rock and roll. It began as a simple birthday party with a handful of bands and a bunch of beer. Now it’s a complete bureaucracy, run by a volunteer steering committee and a board of directors, featuring 200 musical acts, along with a few filmmakers and other artists in venues all across Duluth. The Duluth Parks and Recreation’s FREE Open Skating at the Duluth Heritage Center offers an evening of family fun almost every Wednesday evening on days when school is in session from 6:30-8 pm and during scheduled school release days.
