PROCTOR-HERMANTOWN MIRAGE
Coach: Emma Stauber, second season
2019-20 record: 19-9
Conference: Lake Superior
Section: Section 7A
Key departures: D Braelyn
Sathers (2-11—13, two-time All-Area selection); D Bailey Stokke (1-4—5); F Megan Madill (11-7—18); F Sydney Skorich (8-12—20)
Key returners: Sr. F Alyssa Watkins (21-26—47, two-time
All-Area selection); sr. F Michaela Phinney (23-14—37); sr. F Aurora Opsahl (18-21—39); sr. D Ella Anick (9-21—30, two-time
All-Area First Team selection)
Outlook: The Mirage graduated five seniors, including four who were varsity regulars, but this team is deep. Watkins leads a strong senior class that includes Anick, a Bemidji State recruit. While Cloquet-Esko-Carlton is the defending Section 7A cham- pion until somebody proves otherwise, section coaches have the Mirage pegged as the favorite after finishing runner-up last year.
“We have a lot of experience, but we also have a lot of young, talented, hard-working players,” Stauber said. “We have a strong, deep lineup. The potential is there for our program to have a very successful season.”
