Storytimes

Baby & Toddler Storytime 20 minutes of simple stories and fingerplays for infants to 3-year-olds, with a grown-up. Meet in Youth Services.

Every Wednesday 10:15 am Preschool Storytime 30 minutes of stories, songs, and fingerplays for 3-to-5year-olds. Grown-ups may attend or may treat this as an independent activity for preschoolers. Meet in Youth Services.

Every Wednesday 11:15 am Squad Car Storytime A Duluth police officer will join us and read stories.

Open skate from 12:00 to 7:00 pm with skates and other snow equipment available for use for all ages from Duluth Parks and Recreation. Storytime will begin at 3:30 pm.

Family Movies It’s a film fest for families with Toy Story 4 at 10:30 am (Rated G; 1h 40m) and Lion King at 2:00 pm (Rated PG; 1h 58m). Fun for the whole family!

Sat. December 28 10:30 am & 2:00 pm Green Room Noon Year’s Eve Kids want to party like it’s 2020 too! Kids 2nd grade and younger are invited to celebrate the New Year at noon instead of midnight! Drop-in for a dance party, crafts, bubbles, and a noon countdown to a shower of balloons.

Tue. December 31 11:00 am-12:30 pm Green Room Learn to Code with Ozobots Ozobots are tiny robots that you can code using colored markers. Learn the basics and how to make them do what you want with this introductory course. For kids in grades 1-5 that have never used Ozobots before. Registration required.

Every Thursday 10:15 am Winter Stories: UMD Students Present Stories by Jan Brett UMD literature students will be acting out two of Jan Brett’s winter stories as an interactive and entertaining event for families with children of all ages!

Music can lighten the holiday blues, bring warm feelings to a cold winter day, and calm to a stressful time. Christina Cotruvo will play and discuss the American-Celtic harp, a hi-tech Harp Ukulele, and a therapy harp. She will share the history of the songs she performs from a variety of genres and how they work toward wellness. Paid for in part by the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.

Winter Reading 2020 January 13 - February 29 Sign up starting Monday, January 13 at www.duluthlibrary.org Winter Reading for Babies, Kids, and Teens Sign up and log reading time to earn prizes! Children and teens earn a free book when they complete 10 hours of reading time. Earn tickets for reading and completing activity badges. The more you read, the more tickets you earn! Put your tickets in for a chance to win one of the grand prizes, including a family membership to the Duluth Children’s Museum, gift certificates to local bookstores, Mountain Money for Spirit Mountain, and more! All tickets must be entered by February 29 to qualify for the grand prize drawings. All prizes must be picked up by March 14.

Winter Reading for Adults The more hours you read the more chances you have of winning gift cards to local bookstores! You could also win by writing book reviews and completing the Winter Challenge. Everyone who registers will be eligible to win a gift card to Starbucks.
