Friends of the Duluth Public Library ANNUAL BOOK SALE

Proceeds from the sale make it possible for the library to offer free events to the community. The four day sale takes place at the Main Library, 520 W. Superior Street. Become a member of the Friends and shop a day early.

Jane Austen Garden Party

Saturday, June 28 11:00 am-2:00 pm

It is a truth universally acknowledged... that we all love Jane Austen and a good garden party! As such, the library will host a Jane Austen-themed garden party at the Duluth Rose Garden (1300 London Road) in honor of her 250th birthday.

Enjoy games, rose tours, Mr. Darcy voting, photo ops, and live readings. Blue Sky Coffee and King of Creams will be selling delicious treats onsite. Bring your bonnet, blanket, and picnic basket to celebrate everything Jane!

Family Storytime • Birth to Pre-K on break

Family Storytime and Play at the Main Library is on break in early June. We will be back Wed. June 25 with “Family Storytime & Art.” Wednesdays on break Green

Baby Storytime • Birth to 24 Months on break

Baby Storytime at the Main Library is on break; returns July 3. Thursdays on break Gold

Duluth Huskies Storytime • All Ages

Kick off Summer Reading with the Duluth Huskies at the Main Library! Listen to stories, get players’ autographs, and maybe even sing a round of Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Then, root for your home team as they try to dunk one of our youth librarians in a dunk tank! Youth tickets to the Books and Baseball game on Sunday, July 20 will be available for youth, ages 5-18, while supplies last. Geared to younger kids, but everyone is welcome to attend this special event. Fri. June 6 10:15-11:15 am Plaza

STORY AND PLAY AT THE PARK SERIES

Storytime: 9:30-10:00 am Playtime: 10:00-11:30 am

Join us at a different neighborhood park each week for storytime and youth-focused recreation activities with Duluth Parks & Rec! Little Library Go will be present as well, with mobile library services. Storytimes introduce kids to books, rhymes, music, and other early literacy activities! Geared to children ages birth to 5 and caregivers, but all ages are welcome!

BOOK CLUBS

Science Fiction & Fantasy Book Club: Annihilation

Science Fiction and Fantasy Book Club meets monthly at Studio Café (102 W Superior St.) to discuss compelling titles within this genre, which features very real, human stories. June’s selection is Annihilation by Jeff VanderMeer, a story about the long-abandoned Area X, into which a team of formbidable women adventure. Winner of the Nebula Award. Thurs. Adventure Book Club Series: Bicycling with Butterflies

Talk books, then head out on a gentle hike led by Parks & Rec. June’s book selection is Bicycling with Butterflies by Sara Dykman. We will meet at Morgan Park, 1242 88th Ave West.
