George and Mayumi Yamazawa originally from Osaka Japan, opened Yamazushi in March, 1986. We are now introducing the traditional Japanese Kaiseki dinner. Centuries ago, Kaiseki was a multi-course dinner originally served before tea ceremonies in Japan. It starts with a small appetizer and soup, followed by a variety of small dishes that are steamed, simmered, deep fried, and more. Although Sashimi and Nigiri play an important role in Kaiseki, Japanese cuisine is unlimited in other savory dishes and artistic presentation of ingredients. Yamazushi’s menu represents our ideal and passion to introduce new and unique ways of enjoying Japanese cuisine. Dishes in this menu may vary from Kaiseki dishes; however, we still honor the concept of enjoying small plates. We also offer very healthy (macrobiotics) dishes and vegan dishes as well as gluten free dishes. Plates, cups, and bowls in Japanese cuisine are called “Kimono (robe) of Food” because they are indispensable for presentation similar to how robes beautify people. Most of our tea cups, plates, and bowls are either imported from Japan or handmade by the owner and chef, George Yamazawa. Please enjoy! See our ad on page 7.
