If you’re heading to the mall for some holiday shopping, consider buying a few extra gifts! The Salvation Army provides children and families with Christmas gifts every year that they would not receive without donations from students and residents in the Durham community. The Angel Tree program pairs over 1,700 children ages 0 to 12 with individuals who donate gifts every year. You will be assigned to one child, learn his or her name, age, gender, clothing sizes and “wish gifts,” so you can shop specifically for that child.

As joyous as the holiday season may be for some, for others it is the loneliest time of year. It is for this reason that each year, Meals on Wheels of Durham strives to provide each meal recipient with a holiday gift. They have been able to touch each client in this small but very meaningful way for the past three years only with the help of compassionate community members. They ask that you consider a donation of an inexpensive (under $20) item that can be given as a gift to a needy Durham senior. Donated items of any type may be delivered
