by Andrew Beaton THE CHRONICLE

The Duke-North Carolina basketball game has been rescheduled to Thursday, Feb. 20. No game time has been set. Wednesday’s Duke-North Carolina basketball game at the Dean E. Smith

Center in Chapel Hill was canceled because of the winter storm in the area, according to an official press release. Winter Storm Pax dumped more than six inches of snow on the Triangle between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday. “Duke’s bus is not able to get to their campus to pick up the team in

time to be able to make the trip to Chapel Hill so we can’t play this evening,” UNC Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham said in the press release. “The safety of the teams and officials is the number one priority and this was the best decision to make at this time. Coach Williams, Coach

Krzyzewski, Kevin White and I will be on the phone with the ACC and make a decision as to when to play the game as soon as possible.” Duke vice president and director of athletics Kevin White did not release See POSTPONEMENT, page 9 GRAPHIC BY ELYSIA SU/ THE CHRONICLE

severe weather policy cancels duke’s Thursday classes by Danielle Muoio THE CHRONICLE

Duke issued its first multiple-day class cancellation since 2000 Wednesday night. Duke’s severe weather policy—activated at 1 p.m. Wednesday—was extended to Thursday at 7 p.m., canceling classes for the second day in a row. A Duke Alert sent at 9:41 a.m. Wednesday announced to the student body that classes would end at 12:50 p.m. as a result of Duke’s severe weather policy. This is the

second winter storm this year that resulted in canceled classes. Duke last canceled classes for snow in 2004. Only several Duke clinics will be open tomorrow, according to a Duke Alert email. Patients scheduled for Thursday should have already been notified as to whether their appointments have been canceled. See SNOWDAY, page 12

Duke shuts down C route buses and van services by Danielle Muoio THE CHRONICLE

Several bus routes and all van services shut down at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday due to the ongoing winter storm. There is no notice on when they will become active again. The C route buses and van services stopped running due to the worsening road conditions. The LaSalle Loop line and H Routes will continue to run. Vice President for Administrations Kyle Cavanaugh said

there were reports throughout the day of buses skidding on campus due to the snow, though no bus accidents have been reported. Cavanaugh noted that it is important to keep the hospital routes opening for employees so that they can access their vehicles. The H Routes and LaSalle Loop primarily serve those accessing Duke Hospital. See TRANSPORTAION, page 12
