TRIDENT PACIFIC ORTHODONTIC ALUMNI NEWSLETTER

March 2022

COMMITTEE CHAIR’S REPORT As we continue to navigate through this pandemic, life is beginning to get back to some sort of normality, although the new normal certainly looks different. We were able to have our first in-person event for our alumni chapter since the pandemic began last year.

On Friday, September 17, we gathered for the Arthur A. Dugoni Graduation Symposium and Dinner. After a day of presentations from Oregon Health Sciences University Chair Dr. Laura Iwasaki and the graduating residents, the program concluded with dinner at the iconic City Club of San Francisco. We welcomed back six members of the Class of 2020 since we were not able to have an in-person event last year. Proof of vaccination was required, attendees were required to wear masks except while eating and speakers were even required to keep their masks on at the podium. Next year’s speaker will be Dr. Larry Tadlock, department head and program director from Texas A&M and a past president of the ABO. The PCSO Annual Session scheduled in scenic Portland, Oregon was canceled due to the changing nature of the pandemic and a surge of cases in Oregon. Additional restrictions from the County Health Department made it unrealistic and not feasible to gather such a large group. The PCSO felt this was the responsible thing to do. Dr. Martin Palomo, director of orthodontics at Case Western Reserve is our scheduled speaker for the Frederick T. Lectureship during the Annual Alumni meeting weekend March 4-5, 2022 at the historic Fairmont Hotel.
