Thank you for your continued support of Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart. Throughout the 2020-2021 Annual Report the generosity of the Religious of the Sacred Heart, The Board of Trustees, current and former parents, grandparents, Alumnae and their families, faculty and staff is evident and appreciated. With this abundant support, Duchesne Academy is able to continue its long legacy of exceptional education for girls evidenced by its unwavering dedication to Catholic theology and values.
The Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart schools guide the work of our Board, faculty and staff, and volunteers. Their efforts, coupled with generous giving, are the foundation of our community spirit.
While we continue to navigate through unprecedented times, we also recognize with heartfelt gratitude all we have to be thankful for last year:
• We celebrated our 60-year anniversary – from our modest beginnings in 1960 with a student body of 55 girls to today, with a student population over 700 girls Duchesne continues to offer a stimulating, enveloping, and elevating education for girls. • Extravaganza, Sporting Clays and Annual Fund continued the strong tradition of successful fund raising in support of the school. • The new MOD schedule in Middle and Upper schools has earned Duchesne recognition in the Houston community for leading in education. • Despite the continuing challenges of the pandemic, Duchesne remained open and a provided a safe learning environment. • Professional development for faculty and staff continued, with focus on the newly updated Sacred Heart Goals and Criteria and Catholic Social Teaching. • Capital projects which enhance the campus and learning environment were undertaken and completed. • The Endowment Fund enjoyed continued growth which enables Duchesne to provide tuition assistance, professional development, and general needs.
Our girls, Board, faculty and staff, and the entire community, past, present and future, take this opportunity to extend our deep gratitude for your generosity and your commitment to Catholic, Sacred Heart education.
In thanksgiving,
Sharon Beshouri Chair, Board of Trustees 2021-2022 Patricia Swenson Head of School
