Dublin Cargo Handling Ltd,
Directors: J. H. Donovan, Chairman, B. W. Lynch, D. J. Shelly, H. C. Tierney, J. A. Lenehan, R. N. Hayes.
In July 1982 Dublin Cargo Handling Ltd. first ■ became operational and took over sole responsiblly for stevedoring operations in the deep-sea section of Dublin Port. The company became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Dublin Port and Docks Board in October 1983.
Since that time dynamic changes have taken place in Dublin's deep sea port. A rationalisation of the dock labour force and a new working agreement signed in September of 1985 has led to dramatic improvements in customer service. A new commitment exists to a first-class uninterrupted service to port users and this is backed up by a peace clause which has been agreed initially for a three year period.
An extensive programme of investment in new equipment to meet the changing demands of trade is well under way. Three new Hyster 920 front end trucks with telescopic spreaders are now in service and a fourth machine will be added to the fleet during the year, thus greatly enhancing the container handling capacity of the Southside Container Terminal. The replacement of the entire fleet of smaller fork lift trucks will be completed this year and new bulk handling equipment has also been acquired.
In addition, the company is prepared to consider joint venture investment with shipping lines, agents or end customers in special equipment to meet the needs of specific cargoes.
Dublin Cargo Handling Ltd. provide a complete range of stevedoring services for cargo in the deep sea section of Dublin Port. For further information you can contact: Dublin Cargo Handling Ltd., East Wall Road, Dublin 1. Telephone (01) 745023.
