HBCU CULTURE TOUR RECAP 2022
The 2022 DTLR HBCU Culture Tour is officially in the history books and what another incredible run we had! This homecoming season, DTLR and our amazing brand and label partners took over some of the top HBCUs including Norfolk State University, Howard University, and North Carolina Central University. Homecoming season is always one to remember and, per usual, DTLR left its mark this season.
Alongside our amazing brand partners including Nike, Jordan, Puma, and Levi’s, the students showed up in packs and made sure to celebrate the most exciting time of the school year with us. During each stop, we had a slew of major artists take over the stage. This includes star singer and dancer King Combs, the beautiful Kali, viral star Sleazyworld, and a ton of others including Girll Codee, Lay Bankz, Philly Goats, Tyahna Maray, Jourdin Pauline, Rico Da Don, and a bunch more. We also brought back our Barz on the Yard series where we chose emerging artists in each region to perform at the show and win a slew of other prizes, courtesy of Fadam Got Da Juice.
Another major hit during this year’s HBCU Culture Tour was our Fresh Fit station where, upon RSVPing in advance, hundreds of students at each school were able to get some slick new gear courtesy of our various partners. At NSU, Nike and Jordan held the kids down with some fresh new slides. At Howard, Levi’s crew joined us and provided customized jackets for the students – it’s safe to say that was the highlight of the day! During our final stop at NCCU, Levi’s and Puma once again joined us and gave out some awesome giveaways to the student body. On top of that, we had a 360-photo booth, our friends at the Army hosting activations, DTLR Radio broadcasting at each show, and so much more.
With DTLR Radio’s own Fadam Got Da Juice, Kyle On The Mic, and CDK On The Mic handling hosting duties, the main stage was jumping from start to finish at each show. When talking with the students, it’s clear our Homecoming takeover was appreciated and well-needed this year.
