NAV MEET & GREETS

DTLR partnered up with Universal Music Group to host TWO different meet and greet events with platinum-selling artist and producer NAV to celebrate the release of his new album Demons Protected by Angels! On September 13th, Nav shut down our 52nd and Market DTLR location in Philly where the fans were lined up hours before the event started. The store was packed from start to finish as fans got to meet one of their favorite artists, while also leaving with a signed CD from Nav himself.

A few days later September 15th, Nav and the crew made their way to Chicago as we hosted our 2nd meet and greet, this time at our 87th and Dan Ryan DTLR location. As jam-packed as our Philly event was, Chicago was even crazier. We had fans rapping and singing to Nav’s tunes as they stood in line, had fans figuring out what they were going to say when they got to meet Nav -- we even had one fan get so emotional while meeting Nav that his interaction went viral across all of social media. All in all, the humble hitmaker participated in two events that those fans will never forget.

HOOP DREAMS

On Saturday, Sept. 10 from 11 a.m.– 2 p.m., DTLR, one of the country’s most successful lifestyle retailers with more than 240 stores in 19 states, partnered with Ammo Stilo’s nonprofit G.O.A.L (Growing Over Adverse Lessons) and Hoop Dreams, Inc. to reveal a brand-new basketball court on Olive Street in West Philadelphia. The retailer helped provide funding to support the development of the new court.

The investment in this new basketball court aims to help curb local violence by providing a safe place for youths to convene and creating a positive environment in hopes of changing the narrative. G.O.A.L. also plans to combat the rise of violence through informative seminars, workshops, and assistance with education and employment. School supplies and haircuts were also provided during the event.

BACOT BASKETBALL

For the second consecutive year, the UNC basketball standout hosted a basketball camp in his hometown of Richmond, Virginia. This year’s camp was presented by DTLR and Davies Entertainment and took place at the Ben Wallace Gym, free for all participants.

This amazing event provided campers with a unique experience both on and off the court.  Along with participating in basketball-related activities, campers were also provided with free haircuts, school supplies, and book bags to prepare them for their first day of classes.

This year, the event will take place over a twoday period. According to Christie Lomax, Bacot’s mother, in just a few days, camp registration was closed due to an overwhelming number of campers who signed up to participate this year.

Bacot has one of the biggest platforms in college sports, as he’s one of the most well-known players in his respective sport. Not only has he benefitted from the new NIL rules but has used this as an opportunity to give back to his community, serving as a great example of how student-athletes can use their Name, Image, and Likeness to also benefit others.
