MIAMI DRIVE LAUNCH

We came, we saw, we conquered. DTLR and New Balance successfully shut down Miami Beach for our exclusive Miami Drive sneaker release event! Taking place on the luxurious rooftop at the Gale Hotel in South Beach, the event had it all – from exquisite hors d’oeuvres, an open bar featuring NB-inspired cocktails, and a live broadcast from DTLR Radio, music from Miami’s own DJ Tight and so much more. Hosted by our guy King Flexxa, the event included the “who’s who” of Miami entertainment. From hip-hop legends like Trina and Trick Daddy, to major influencers such as Tonio Skits, to major label execs from 300 Ent. and beyond, it’s safe to say we stirred up some nice anticipation ahead of this week’s official release.

TION

EKEND

With the gracious support of the Nike brand, we were able to enhance our sponsorship of the annual Momference® event put together by District Motherhued®, the premiere 501(c)(3) dedicated to (millennial) mothers of color in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C., with national support and acclaim. The founders noticed the lack of representation amidst local mom groups and sought to create a community for millennial moms resembling them. They have tapped into a grossly ignored niche of women, and their mission has since grown. District Motherhued® encourages community amongst moms of color, while aiding brands in connecting with their demographic through strategic brand integration. The Momference® is the premier, one-day conference for Black, (millennial) moms, boasting regionally and nationally acclaimed mom influencers, panels, celebrity keynote, workshops, vendors and top-tier, multi-cultural focused products. The conference was filled with mainstage conversations and breakout sessions that transparently addressed every facet of motherhood. From maternal mental health and the fourth trimester, to raising children with disabilities, and self-care, no topic is considered off-limits or taboo. Dare To Live Right was honored to sponsor the Staycation VIP portion of the event. Two hundred moms registered to stay the entire weekend, during which they participated in daily physical health and fitness activities. As part of our sponsorship, we were able to financially support the professional trainers, yoga and meditation instructors, as well as gift each of the moms with a premium Nike Fitness bag. We look forward to supporting this organization in its future endeavors and experiences for the moms of our communities.

JACK HARLOW IN - STORE

On May 11, DTLR partnered with star recording artist Jack Harlow and the Atlantic Records team to host a sold-out meet and greet event at our DTLR location in Camp Creek (ATL) to celebrate the release of his new album, “Come Home The Kids Miss You.” We had fans in line as early as 6 a.m. ready to meet Jack, even though the event did not start until 4 p.m. It was unbelievable! Every single one of the roughly 900 attendees got to meet Jack, take a photo, and of course, receive their autographed copy of “Come Home The Kids Miss You.”

DTLR was honored to be a part of the I Believe In Me Girls (“IBIM Girls”) all-day enrichment workshop entitled: Believe in your P.O.W.E.R. The acronym P.O.W.E.R. stands for, “pursuing opportunities with extraordinary resolve.” We hosted 100 girls and young women for an event designed to empower them to identify their dreams and passions while equipping them with the proper tools to assist in igniting the power they have within. This year’s theme and focus was “Exploring the Arts,” and the day was brimmed with speakers, open discussions, and artistic and social encounters, as well as guided, hands-on activities. The promise and experience of the event was to educate, inspire, encourage and unlock the creativity, power, purpose, and potential of our young women who will become our future leaders. IBIM Girls is a mentoring and leadership development program dedicated to building self-esteem and leadership skills in girls ages 8-18. Cortney Robertson, a community leader, volunteer, and mother, founded the program after she noticed the lack of zeal, passion, and drive of so many young girls. She found after much research that there was a significant lack of mentoring programs for females in comparison to the numerous resources for young males. The support deficit in our community for young girls birthed this program. IBIM Girls’ goal to positively impact the development and self-esteem of young girls fits perfectly with our Dare To Live Right pillars. We look forward to supporting this amazing organization by offering interactive life-skills workshops, experimental learning activities, group mentoring sessions, and community service.

WILD SPLASH 2022

Tampa Bay, Fla., was the place to be on May 14 as 94.1 took over the Albert Whitted Park for their Wild Splash Festival. DTLR was live in action, doing everything from activations, to a live broadcast of DTLR Radio and more. The gates opened promptly at 1 p.m. the day of the festival, and the excited concertgoers began to pour in. Making their rounds, fans immediately lined up at our station ready for their giveaways (courtesy of Adidas), their custom-made airbrush T-shirts (also courtesy of Adidas), live henna tattooing, a 360 photo booth and more. DTLR Radio took over the backstage area as well. Our hosts Fadam Got Da Juice and Ferrari Simmons broadcasted live on DTLR Radio, chopping it up with all of the artists performing, and even handing out fresh pairs of Adidas to special guests. Shout out to the three stripes for holding us down! The show’s lineup this year was impressive, to say the least. DaBaby headlined the show, while other performers included Latto, Nardo Wick, Hotboii, LaTheGoat, Blxst, Tai’Aysha and more. Every artist put on quite a show and had us wanting more.

MAYO

Y RUN

Within our pillar of Health, we want our communities to truly THRIVE. To Thrive is to grow and develop vigorously so that one can truly prosper and flourish. Under that premise, we Dare our community to Thrive in all aspects of physical and mental health. As part of our annual partnership with local organization Nemesis Fitness, we are always proud to sponsor the Cinco de Mayo community-run. The more than 100 attendees ran a short 5-mile route through Reading in uniform shirts and festive garments. At the end of the route, attendees received complimentary food and drink from Let’s Taco About It Mexican Grill and Juice-C Juice Bar, local businesses that donated their services for the event. Nemesis Fitness is an organization with a community mission to create and elevate fitness within its neighborhood that extends across the world. Nemesis encourages people of all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels to get off the couch. Your success is the Nemesis goal; understanding that adapting new fitness habits is difficult and often fails. The organization’s mission is to change your view on fitness so that it becomes a part of who you are and your lifestyle. Nemesis strongly believes that if you practice healthy habits, you will be able to obtain a healthy lifestyle. We are grateful for this relationship and look forward to continuing a partnership that will truly benefit the Central Pennsylvania community and encourage us all to be Better Together!

DOLL

DREAM

Reality TV star, talented emcee, and style and beauty fashionista DreamDoll stopped by DTLR Radio for an interview with our very own Fadam Got Da Juice. Currently, on tour with Fivio Foreign, Dream talked about life on the road, her new single “Gas You Up,” her forthcoming album and so much more. Following the interview, we hosted a networking/mixer event at Dave & Buster’s, where Dream was able to connect with a ton of local DJs, bloggers, and other tastemakers. Always bringing an abundance of positive energy, Dream was refreshing to hang with during the DMV stop of her tour.

Our partner nonprofit Getting The Max Out Of Life hosted its first Basketball Classic for the organization’s mentorship program. The Jr 76ers and Dare To Live Right sponsored the inaugural Max Championship game between schools in the mentorship program. First-year mentees at West Philadelphia High School took on Mastery Charter School, the first graduating class of mentees. This program was founded by Maxwell Brown, who captivates audiences – young and old – as he shares how his years of incarceration can be linked to the decisions he made as a teenager and then helps you see how your thinking controls your actions, behaviors, and outcomes. You will walk away from his workshops with a clear understanding of how our choices carry consequences, and of the innate power each of us have to change our destiny and achieve our dreams. We will continue to support this amazing program, which is not about preventing problems from happening, but is designed to help you handle them more effectively and with a more favorable outcome. It’s a mission Dare To Live Right can fully support, as it teaches our youth the processes of understanding how much control they actually have over their lives and success or failure, and how to truly get the Max out of Life.

KALAN

Roc Nation recording artist Kalan.FrFr recently stopped past the Unruly/Sprayground Studios for an impromptu interview with DTLR Radio’s own Fadam Got Da Juice. Gearing up for a batch of new music, a tour, and much more, Kalan spoke about everything he has been working on and how all the fruits of his labor are finally revealing themselves. We had Kalan perform during our 2021 HBCU Tour and have noticed significant growth since then. We cannot wait to see what the rest of the year has in store!

BROCCOLI CITY FESTIVAL 2022 This year’s Broccoli City Festival – one of D.C.’s biggest annual shows – was one to remember. Per usual, DTLR made its presence felt.

Taking place on May 7 & 8, this year’s two-day show was headlined by Lil Durk, 21 Savage, Ari Lennox, Summer Walker, Gunna, and more. DTLR and New Balance took over the backstage compound by offering artists customized 550s by “@Sneakerfandan.” Entertainers were also treated to other premium New Balance items as they were interviewed on DTLR Radio by Fadam Got Da Juice. The Influencer Tent where DTLR set up shop, housed tastemakers, actors, and other industry juggernauts as they waited to collect content from the show. The DTLR Gaming area was another audience draw and served as a great distraction from the rainy weather. The Giveaway area doubled as both a recharging station for concertgoers, as well as a photo moment for attendees. Despite the gloomy weather, DTLR turned things up for the Broccoli City Fest the way we always do.

POSITIVE V

MINDSET

It is no secret that community violence is at an all-time high for the residents of Philadelphia, Pa. When returning to school from 18 months of isolation due to the pandemic, teachers and staff could not predict the amount of emotional support and wellness students would need to cope and re-integrate back into “life as we know it.” The return to school was anything but normal, as this past year was filled with uncertainty and fear, with anxiety and other mental health ailments plaguing both students and teachers alike. This was all coupled with the enormous amounts of grief and loss many students experience due to senseless and dangerous community violence. Dare To Live Right has partnered with KIPP Philadelphia Preparatory Academy to address such difficult matters through their school-wide wellness campaign. During the past year, DTLR has sponsored and helped support the school’s initiative in fostering students’ abilities to properly identify their feelings and emotions, form and maintain healthy relationships, become socially aware, and make positive decisions.

VIBES

DAY

During their last DTLR-sponsored event, KIPP partnered with community activists and vendors to infuse a sense of joy as they explore the impact and power that a mindset shift has on individuals, and ultimately, the community. We brought in the Positive Vibe Tour, a local mental health team to help facilitate the difficult discussions regarding gun violence, choices, and character building. Although this effort will not solely eradicate the problem, it will plant the seed for the forward-thinking change-maker that will! The definition of Dare To Live Right and Better Together!

ANNIE MALONE PARADE

On May 15th DTLR once again partnered with the Annie Malone Foundation for the 112th annual Annie Malone Parade downtown St. Louis. For the past 134 years the Annie Malone Foundation helps children and family’s immediate crisis and offer emergency food, shelter clothing, education and therapy. Proceeds raised from the Annie Malone Parade go toward these expenses to help alleviate the operations cost. In the first parade post COVID there were well over 5k in attendance with over 300 floats and vendors. DTLR employees accompanied the DTLR branded float and passed out branded t-shirts and towels to parade goers while DTLR DJ Kidd Boogie provided the soundtrack for the day.

SST. LOUIS

Under the Education pillar of our movement, it is only right that we show love to some of the teachers in our community. The National Education Association describes National Teacher Week as, “a week for honoring teachers and recognizing the lasting contributions they make to our lives.” Teachers play a critical role in educating and shaping our children, the future leaders of our country. These kind, patient, hardworking, dedicated, and understanding professionals help mold our children and guide them in positive directions. We entrust our children with teachers, and they affect their lives daily. The Community Outreach Team treated over 500 teachers with lunches last week in Atlanta, Miami, and Cleveland, along with some small love tokens centered around our Dare To Live Right Movement. No matter where we are in life, a teacher influenced us. They continue to impact our lives every day, too! Every one of us has at least one teacher in mind who encouraged and motivated us during our education. Let us not allow this celebration to be limited to one week. If you know a teacher, send them a special thank you, for they are valuable to each of our communities.
