NLE CHOPPA

Warner Music hitmaker NLE Choppa recently swung past the DTLR Radio headquarters earlier this month to visit the staff and sit down with DTLR Radio’s own Fadam Got Da Juice for a new interview.

During their conversation, Choppa discussed being an underrated artist despite having multiple hit records, his lifestyle and how his choices affect his career, his plans for 2023, long-term goals in the industry, and much more.

GROWING FREEDOM PROJECT

DTLR Community Outreach partnered with the Down North Foundation to launch The Growing Freedom Project for Philadelphia Juvenile Justice Services Center (PJJSC). We are excited for this partnership to provide opportunities for youth at the PJJSC, as part of its Dare to Live Right community initiative. This project perfectly aligns with our Education, Health, and Activism pillars. It aims to transform unused parcels of land into urban farms while educating youth at the PJJSC about sustainability, and how to garden, harvest and cook the produce they grow themselves.

As part of our Dare To Live Right Mission, DTLR strongly believes in providing these youths with unique skills and more opportunities they can leverage once they return to society. We’re honored to partner with the Down North Foundation to launch this incredible project, which we know will help hundreds of students learn the importance of growing and cooking their own produce.

THE DOWN NORTH FOUNDATION ULTIMATELY IS ABOUT EMPOWERING URBAN COMMUNITIES THAT HAVE BEEN FORGOTTEN

FOUNDER, MUHAMMAD ABDUL-HADI

The Down North Foundation’s mission is grounded in the idea of creating opportunities and initiatives that focus on empowering the existing community to be a part of the change.

The Growing Freedom Project will be supported by a collective of local community activists, academics, and Philadelphia business leaders. “The Down North Foundation ultimately is about empowering urban communities that have been forgotten,” says Founder, Muhammad Abdul-Hadi. “We believe change happens at the community level and requires imagination and reconstruction, and we’re excited to be able to put our ideas and plans into practice to achieve the creation of safe, inclusive community-centered places – plot by plot.” The youth that benefits from this project will learn the science of growing and sustaining their own food while learning a culinary curriculum that will make their transition into the workforce a little easier.

FRENCH MONTANA ALBUM SIGNINGS

Kicking off the new year in a major way, DTLR Radio and the Coke Boys crew teamed up to host three meet-and-greet events with superstar hitmaker French Montana! With the release of his new album “Coke Boys 6,” fans were excited and ready to chop it up with French, cop an autograph and celebrate the new release.

The first stop took place on Jan. 9 in Waterbury, Conn., at one of our new store locations, making for a memorable grand opening event. From there, we came to the mid-Atlantic at our Rhode Island Avenue location in Washington, D.C., followed by our new location at the Northwood Commons in Baltimore. The intimate moments French shared with his fans were priceless. He even hooked up a few lucky fans with a shopping spree!

With the help of brand partner Adidas, we were able to bring back our annual Basketball Classic for regional high schools to highlight youth who excel in sports. Every team competing in this year’s event featured exceptional skills and talent, and we were excited to bring back this unique platform to showcase and celebrate the talent of these young players from the Baltimore-Washington and Virginia regions.

This year’s event will feature three games between six high school basketball teams from the BaltimoreWashington, DC, and Virginia: Calvert Hall College High School vs. Rosedale Christian Academy; St. Frances Academy vs. Varina High School, and Gonzaga High School vs. Woodside High School.

DTLR Sports seeks to bring in the best youth talent excelling in sports at this annual event. In previous Basketball Classic events, top teams from other regions, such as Simeon Career Academy High School and Morgan Park High School in Chicago have competed in the tournament, Imhotep Charter in Philadelphia. FREEESTYLE SERIES LIL PAKMAN

To kick off 2023, we’re launching a new freestyle series on DTLR Radio! Who’s got the best bars? Who flows over the best instrumentals? We’re on a quest to find the hottest of the hot! First up, we got Baltimore’s own Lil Pakman, who showed off his smooth flow and clever wordplay. Hosted by our guy Fadam Got Da Juice, Pak set things off the right way for the new year.

FREEESTYLE SERIES PINKY THA RAPPER

D.C.’s own Pinky Tha Rapper recently stopped past the DTLR Radio headquarters to lock in with Fadam Got Da Juice on his #PluggedIn show. During their in-depth interview, Pinky spoke on the D.C. music scene, what’s holding them back, her Mt. Rushmore of D.C. artists, some classic D.C. songs she would recreate, and how the District is so different from anywhere else. Pinky also touched on her 2023 plans, balancing her personal life and much more.

Following her interview, Pinky kicked a heater of a freestyle over Nas and QB Finest’s classic “Oochie Wally.” Safe to say she did the classic instrumental justice!

FUEGO BASE MEET & GREET

At the end of January, we hosted an exciting event at our new DTLR location in West Hartford, CT a meet and greet with buzzing up-and-coming artist Fuego Base, who signed with the BSF Records team. Fuego’s fans came out in packs to meet the artist and celebrate his new project release. The event was hosted by 93.7’s own DJ Meechie, a staple in the CT region, who brought good energy. With a bubbling fan base, industry backing, and most importantly, sheer talent, it’s safe to say Fuego’s here to stay. Stay tuned for much more going down in the Connecticut region with DTLR!
