The Design Goals: The area is located directly in front of the iconic University of Georgia landmark, The Arch, and serves as the heart of downtown. Currently, it is in a state of awaiting redesign. There is a need for improved spatial and circulation design to guide the flow of people and enhance their experience.

THE DESIGN GOALS: •

A bioretention area of at least 500 square feet is required to manage on-site stormwater.

•

An accessible pathway is required, and attention should be given to adding handrails.

•

Excellent form and concept, emphasizing efficient site utilization and striving for a level ground. A clear-cut road with a width of 20 feet is required to accommodate emergency vehicle access.

SCULPTURE CONCEPTS DESIGN ELEMENTS •

From the front and side views of the sculpture, completely different appearances can be seen.

The metal material allows for hollow structures to produce different tones on rainy days.

1.A unique fabric structure that provides shade and shelter.

3.The site includes a complete and discreet emergency vehicle access route, as well as an accessible pathway that spans the entire site.

4. Outdoor flower beds, large rest areas, dining areas, and activity areas.

5. Beautiful bioretention area with resting spaces along the edges and an accessible pathway crossing above it.

It also provides a slope of less than 2% for the dining area and event area.

The abundant flower beds do not occupy excessive space and, while maintaining the basic form, allow sufficient space for pathways.

Furthermore, the design successfully preserves the three existing trees on the left side.

MosS SIDE COMMUNITY

Early concept & ideas The purpose of this design is to create a sustainable, inclusive, and vibrant neighborhood community. It aims to provide residents with safe, healthy, and pleasant public spaces.

This neighborhood community is divided into Pocket Neighborhood and Traditional Neighborhood, and it is predominantly composed of R8 and R5 land parcels.

The majority of the design inspiration comes from the existing beautiful water features on the site, and these design elements have been extracted to create the iconic road alignment of the area.

In the envisioning, it not only includes beautiful amenities and multiple public activity areas, but also features a surrounding trail that encircles the site.

INSPIRATION By tilting the house and garage at a 45° angle, the layout of the site became more dynamic and eliminated the need for steps at both house entrances.

THIS DESIGN ENHANCED: 1. a spacious lawn area, 2. preserved existing tree, 3. a small rain garden in the northeast corner, 4. mitigate drainage issues 5. reduce underground pipes.

Directly connected to a concrete road, with a small parking space next to it that provides space for U-turn.

BACKYARD

The design takes into account noise and lighting. The two-tiered retaining wall provides visual screening and place for greenery.

The retaining wall here serves not only to reduce noise from the rear road but also acts as a screen, making the backyard space more like a private space.

A n a r c h i t e c t u ra l d e s i g n t h a t incorporates forest materials as design elements and eventually combines with the concept of a lighthouse.

Upon entering the interior, it provides a unique sense of tranquility, and at the end of each staircase turn, there are windows that offer unique views.
