CALL TO ORGANIZE A NEW LATIN AMERICAN LGBTTIQ GROUP IN TORONTO

This call to organize is being made by Coralia Cortez, Den Temin, janet romero, and Silvana Bazet. We want to create a politicized space to lobby for social change and political advocacy within a framework of mutual respect and learning. We want to have Latin American LGBTTIQ presence in the Latin American communities as well as the LGBTTIQ communities in Toronto. We want to work from a feminist, antioppression, anti-racist, and anti-colonialist framework. We want to work understanding our positions of power and lack of power in a society that discriminates against us because of our sexual identity, gender identity, ethnicity, social class, age, physical and mental abilities, place of origin, physical appearance, and our spirituality/religion. If you identify as lesbian, queer, gay, bisexual, trans, transgender, transsexual, intersex, and/or genderqueer, and you have energy and commitment to work seriously within the framework we mentioned above, then we are inviting you to our first meeting to explore goals, methodologies, and modalities of working. Please note that this meeting will be conducted in Spanish. English and Portuguese interpretation will be available. WHEN: Saturday, March 19 at 2:00 pm SHARP WHERE: 17 Phoebe Street, Toronto

Important: this meeting is to create a new group and not a coalition of groups that already exist. This means that if you decide to participate it would be as independent, regardless of whether you already belong to another group.
