This area has a rich history of tin mining, timber and sugar cane. The Bloomfield Track is a coastal track linking Cape Tribulation to Wujal Wujal and Cooktown. It is one of Australia’s most scenic drives, with rocky creek crossings to challenge drivers as you wind through the ranges that tower over the Coral Sea. The Bloomfield Track is one of the most scenic short 4WD drives in Queensland and a must-do for 4WD travellers, whether self-driving or taking a tour with a local 4WD company.
WEARY BAY BEACH Stroll along the beach named by a very tired James Cook, or hire a boat to explore the Bloomfield River and even the secluded Cedar Bay National Park.

BLOOMFIELD FALLS Visitors can experience the magnificent Bloomfield Falls on a guided tour with one of the local clans who share Yalanji culture as they walk over their ancestral lands. The waterfalls and river are the lifeblood of the local people and their stories tell how man and nature connect at this sacred site.



FISHING Bloomfield River is popular with the locals. Fish from the river bank at the boat ramp or launch your boat up the river to try your luck. Tinnies can also be hired from Bloomfield Escape or join a fishing charter.

WEARY BAY Great for a walk and a bit of beachcombing.

CANNONBALL FLOWERS The Rainforest Coast is habitat for an enormous diversity of plants. Look out for this eye catching flower with large fruit that is the size and shape of a cannonball with a sweet perfume-like scent.
MOUNT LOUIS STATION Arguably the most picturesque cattle station in Far North Queensland, Mount Louis has a very diverse ecosystem with wetlands, ancient paperbark forests, rainforests and of course improved pastures that fatten some of the finest Brahman steers in Australia.
