CELEBRITY CEREMONY UNVEILS NEW CluBhOuSe
I
TV celebrity Nicki Chapman brought an air of excitement, anticipation and style to the grand opening of our new £2 million luxury retirement village clubhouse here at Durrants Village. Alongside Chief executive Bill Gair and Managing Director Iwan Jones, Nicki cut the ribbon to officially open the impressive, new threestorey Durrants house, which lies at the heart of the village.
W
ell known for hosting property programmes such as Escape to the Country and Wanted Down Under, Nicki welcomed distinguished guests, residents, and VIPs who were treated to a range of entertainment. This included displays from ballroom dancers, lessons from snooker players, jazz music and pieces from a fabulous string trio. There were tricks and illusions from an exceptional magician and laughs provided by a great light entertainer. Guests were able to relax and enjoy the weekend with fantastic food from our resident restaurateur Strong Flavours and delightful drinks from our marvellous mixologist. Guests had the opportunity to discover the impressive facilities provided in Durrants House including: the fitness centre, pool, gym, meeting and games rooms, library, guest suite and show apartment. They were also able to enjoy the new Durrants Village restaurant and cocktails in the bar.

It fosters interests, friendships and active living. t’s been a busy few months once again here at Durrants Village during which we’ve seen plenty of exciting new developments. New show homes have been completed, landscaping has come on at a rapid rate, new members of the team have joined us and we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming new residents to the village. Undoubtedly one of the major highlights was the culmination of many hard months of work to finish the outstanding new clubhouse within which our residents, guests and visitors can now enjoy a selection of country club style facilities. With just a matter of days to go before the grand opening by Nicki Chapman everyone was hard at work putting together the finishing touches. Thankfully everything ran like clockwork and on the opening weekend blue skies and sun welcomed all our guests. It was particularly pleasing to see so many of our existing residents who came along to join in the festivities and to help prospective customers get a feel for what community life is really like at the village. he latest Durrants Village show homes demonstrate just how flexible the accommodation can be in the York and Holman house types. These new show homes have been created to showcase the versatility of the space in each house type and how it can be arranged to suit your lifestyle. The spacious kitchen/dining and garden room in the new Holman show house has been styled for relaxed living, to include a comfy sofa and coffee table so friends and family can sit and chat with you whilst you’re in the kitchen, and also offers a formal dining arrangement laid out by the patio doors overlooking the garden. Our interior designer, Andrew Henry, has used tones of cool greys, with clever pops of vibrant orange giving a contemporary, elegant and sophisticated feel. Sophisticated style Our new York show house offers a third bedroom/study on the ground floor, which can be helpful if you may need ground floor living at some stage in the future. But, until then it could make a stunning formal dining room and that’s exactly how Andrew has arranged the York show home. QUIZICALLY MINDED? GET READY FOR THE GREAT DURRANTS VILLAGE QUIZ
T
he countdown to the great Durrants Village charity fundraising quiz night has begun and we’re inviting you and as many friends and neighbours as you can muster to join us on Saturday 19th September at 6pm. This is your chance to get Quizzical in Aid of The Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsy, based in nearby Five Oaks. The event is part of our support for the ARCO (Associated Retirement Community Operators) Open Weekend, which runs from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th September and is designed to raise awareness of Durrants Village as a part of the local community. The quiz itself will see teams of up to
six battle it out in the clubhouse to earn the title of quiz kings and queens of the village. We’re asking for a contribution of just £5 per head with all proceeds going to the Charity. You’ll be able to enjoy a great night of entertainment, a fish and chip supper provided by our restaurateur Strong Flavours and you’ll have the chance to make new friends. All money from your entry, will go towards this wonderful Sussex-based charity as part of its Amazing Grace appeal. You can find out more by visiting www.dvltrust.org.uk.
