Xu Zhimo's classic 1928 poem "Taking Leave of Cambridge Once Again" inspires both the theme and the name of the Rosy Clouds uniforms. The artistic design of these uniforms often helps to reflect the concepts of harmony in the cloudy skies, while further symbolizing the golden-winged birds of the HNA flying above those clouds. Traditionally the designs on the uniform invoke auspicious good luck elements such as clouds on the collar and a sea of waves rising from the bottom. Mostly gray and white, the concept behind the uniform is the gloomy sky we're flying up into. Red and yellow elements that are dispersed throughout the design evoke the colonial history of China. The fabrics and colors look and sound blend European style and Chinese aesthetics
2.7 Aesthetic Approach to Design Development
User Centered Design is converging on three principles namely as USABILITY, AESTHETIC and TECHNICAL (UAT) aspects. In this research, the researcher only focus on the aesthetic principle. UAT is playing a mutual involvement in every stage from empathize to product testing phase. Aesthetic approach to design development is a statement that clarifies an aesthetic strategy and implication in design process in order to perform specific functions to the satisfaction of customer. In this cases, the researcher / designer should implicate users’ role in some part of decision making especially in aesthetic determination. The design development process involves mutual aesthetic reflection between designer and users via senses namely vision, hearing and touch over finished product usability.
As clothes are used for the study of aesthetics, the focus may be on just the product, or on how the product interacts with other products on oneself or those wearing the product, or on the look produced for a particular time and place. Aesthetics of dress is about how people want to appear, and how they want to look at themselves and others in a specific way. Hence, in this aesthetic approach to development, the researcher will design abstract pattern with use Lawsonia Anermis motif on the design for the public transport workers uniform with modern contemporary look. The researcher will be using a good quality, suitable and comfortable fabrics for the public transport workers to wear it for every day. The design of uniform will use basic cutting and style. Besides that, the researcher also will be using color concept themed of Johor Bahru such as blue and red to show the identity of that area or using color trend forecast 20 / 21.
2.8 Summary
In this chapter two, presents an overview of the understanding uniform, definition identity This followed by the flower from another district and current uniform from another district. Besides, this chapter also explaining about the issue of public transport uniform and the importance of employees in uniform.
