WHAT’S YOUR EXPERIENCE IN THE PAID WORK ENVIRONMENT?

This survey was made available to all attendees at Dr Joe McGirr’s International Women’s Day (IWD) event held on 8 March 2024, and was also emailed to all attendees of past IWD events hosted by Dr Joe McGirr. The survey closed on 20 March 2024. A total of 73 people completed the survey

KEY FINDINGS

Most respondents have been working or previously worked in a paid environment for 15 years+ (75%)

Respondents were asked ‘How would you describe the steps taken by your workplaces to promote gender equity? The most common response was acceptable (33%) 41% of respondents selected ‘Good’ or ‘Very Good’, while 26% selected ‘Poor’ or ‘Very Poor’

Respondents were asked ‘Throughout your career do you believe you ’ ve received for your work, appropriate levels of pay, super, and leave entitlements ’ ‘Sometimes’ was the most common response for Pay and Super, while ‘Always’ was the most common response for Leave Entitlements.

Most respondents (55%) believe working regionally has been good for their career

55% described the impact of working regionally on their career as Good or Very Good’

The vast majority (94%) of respondents believe the State Government can do more to support women to advance economically and professionally

In follow-up, respondents were asked if they had suggestions on how government could support women to advance economically and professionally (39 responses)
