Paper For Above instruction
In developing my personal coaching approach, I am inspired by the practices of two influential coaches whom I have personally experienced and who exemplify effective techniques that resonate with my coaching philosophy. Their strategies serve as valuable models that I intend to adapt and refine to suit my unique coaching style, emphasizing rapport-building, active listening, and tailored guidance.
The first influential technique I admire is the active listening and empathetic engagement demonstrated by Coach Jane Smith, a seasoned life coach I worked with during a mentorship program. Her approach centers on creating a safe and trusting environment, emphasizing focused attentiveness to her clients’ words and non-verbal cues. Smith’s ability to listen without immediate judgment and to ask open-ended questions allows clients to explore their thought processes deeply, fostering self-awareness and intrinsic motivation (Hale & Doran, 2015). I plan to incorporate this element into my coaching by practicing mindful listening and cultivating a genuine curiosity about my clients’ perspectives, which can enhance trust and facilitate meaningful insights.
The second practice that influences my coaching is Coach David Lee’s method of goal visualization and action planning, which I experienced during a corporate coaching session. Lee guides clients to vividly

picture their desired outcomes and then break these visions into achievable steps. This technique aligns with the principles of solution-focused coaching, emphasizing strengths and future possibilities (Grant, 2017). To adapt this technique within my framework, I will modify it to ensure that goal-setting is participatory and personalized, respecting each client’s unique context and readiness level. By combining visualization with established motivational interviewing techniques, I aim to support clients in creating sustainable change.
While these techniques from Smith and Lee are compelling, modifications are necessary to align with my coaching style. For example, I plan to integrate cultural competence into goal visualization, ensuring clients’ cultural backgrounds and personal values inform their envisioned futures (Brown & Tuttle, 2016). Additionally, I will adapt active listening to include reflective summaries that confirm understanding, fostering a collaborative dialogue rather than a one-sided interview. These adjustments will help me develop a coaching practice that is both authentic to my personality and responsive to clients’ diverse needs.
In conclusion, by drawing inspiration from experienced coaches like Smith and Lee, I aim to build a coaching approach rooted in empathetic listening and goal-oriented strategies. Thoughtful modification of these techniques ensures they are culturally sensitive and client-centered, supporting my growth as an emerging personal coach committed to empowering individuals to achieve their goals with confidence.
