In this activity, pretend you are in charge of inventing your own original political party and write a platform for your brand new political party. Your platform and reflection essay should be at least 500 words long and address the following:
Part 1 - Your Platform

Part 2 - Reflection Essay
Write an essay in which you compare and contrast each of your three policies, one at a time, to similar policies from the platforms of the Democratic and Republican parties. How are your policies similar to the policies of the two major parties? How your policies different from the policies of the two major parties? Be specific and include specific examples. Conclude your comparison and contrast essay by discussing which of the two major parties your political party most similar to?

Part 1: The Platform
Party Name: The Progressive Unity Party
The Progressive Unity Party (PUP) advocates for comprehensive reforms aimed at fostering social equity, economic stability, and international cooperation. Our policies are rooted in the belief that a balanced approach to governance can create a more just and prosperous society.
Domestic Policy
Our domestic policy centers around Universal Affordable Healthcare (UAH). We believe that healthcare is a fundamental human right, and thus, every citizen should have access to high-quality medical services without financial hardship. The policy entails establishing a government-funded healthcare system that provides coverage for all residents, eliminating disparities in access based on income or employment status. We propose expanding existing public health programs, increasing funding for community clinics, and implementing preventive health initiatives to improve overall public health outcomes. Economic Policy

We support rejoining and actively participating in international accords on climate change, such as the Paris Agreement, and encouraging technological innovation and clean energy collaborations across nations. The policy also emphasizes fostering diplomatic relationships that prioritize human rights, democracy, and conflict resolution, while respecting national sovereignty.
Part 2: Reflection Essay
Comparison of Domestic Policy
My domestic policy of Universal Affordable Healthcare aligns with the Democratic Party's emphasis on expanding healthcare access, particularly through proposals like the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Both policies prioritize healthcare as a right and aim to reduce disparities by providing publicly funded coverage and preventive services. However, my policy takes a more comprehensive approach by suggesting full government-funded universal coverage, which exceeds the ACA's target of expanding private insurance options. Conversely, the Republican platform typically advocates for market-based solutions or privatization, opposing government-funded universal health coverage. Therefore, my policy shares more similarities with Democratic proposals but differs from Republican opposition to government-led healthcare expansion.
Comparison of Economic Policy
