Understanding the dual influence of IT on the transformation of global business models requires an examination of how these systems support innovation, agility, and efficiency, while also recognizing their vulnerabilities and limitations that may hinder progress.

IT systems help facilitate the transition of global business models by providing flexible platforms that enable rapid communication, data exchange, and process automation. Cloud computing, for instance, allows organizations to scale operations quickly and access information from anywhere in the world, thereby supporting globalization and enabling new business paradigms such as digital services and e-commerce (Brynjolfsson & McAfee, 2014). Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems integrate various functions across borders, promoting consistency and real-time decision-making that underpin international expansion efforts (Helo & Szekely, 2005). Moreover, data analytics and artificial intelligence empower companies to analyze global markets, understand customer behaviors, and tailor products and services to diverse consumer needs swiftly (Manyika et al., 2011). < p>However, IT systems can also hinder change if they are outdated, inflexible, poorly integrated, or lack security. Legacy systems may resist modernization efforts, creating bottlenecks that slow down innovation processes (Ross, Beath, & Sebastian, 2017). Cybersecurity threats threaten to disrupt operations or compromise sensitive information, making organizations hesitant to implement revolutionary changes, especially on a global scale. Additionally, resistance to technological change within organizational cultures

can impede the adoption of new IT-driven business models, as employees or management may be reluctant to alter familiar routines (Hess, Matt, Benlian, & Wiesböck, 2016). Complex regulatory environments across borders can also pose legal challenges to IT implementations, restricting how data is shared or processed internationally.

Disaster Recovery (DR) planning is an essential component of an organization's resilience strategy. It involves preparing protocols and measures to restore IT systems and business operations following disruptive events such as cyberattacks, natural disasters, or system failures. Key elements for inclusion in a DR plan involve risk assessment, data backup, recovery procedures, communication plans, and testing protocols (Wallace & Weber, 2017).

Risk assessment helps identify vulnerabilities within IT infrastructure and prioritizes critical systems that require protection and rapid recovery. Data backup ensures that copies of essential data are stored securely, preferably off-site or in cloud environments, to prevent loss (Gordon & Loeb, 2002). Recovery procedures provide step-by-step actions to restore systems efficiently, minimizing downtime and data loss. Effective communication plans ensure that stakeholders are informed throughout the recovery process, reducing confusion and enabling coordinated efforts. Regarding the ethical misuse or abuse of information systems, several instances have come to attention in recent years, often involving breaches of customer or employee trust. Companies have misused data by engaging in unauthorized surveillance, data mining without consent, or misrepresenting how personal information is used. One prominent example is the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica scandal, where personal data of millions of users was harvested without consent for political profiling (Cadwalladr & Graham-Harrison, 2018). Such misuse was initially handled through public backlash, legal actions, and regulatory scrutiny, leading to increased transparency demands and stricter data privacy policies.

To prevent and eliminate such abuses, organizations need comprehensive ethical guidelines and robust data governance frameworks. This involves establishing transparent data collection practices, implementing strict access controls, and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations like GDPR. Training employees on ethical data handling and establishing whistleblower protections can further

promote accountability. It is crucial for companies to foster a corporate culture that values integrity over mere compliance, encouraging ethical decision-making at all levels (Caldicott & Jones, 2014). Building trust with customers and employees depends on transparent practices and accountability, which can be achieved through continuous monitoring and auditing of information system usage.

However, their potential to hinder change through security vulnerabilities, resistance, and regulatory challenges must not be overlooked. Disaster recovery planning is vital for safeguarding business continuity, requiring careful inclusion of risk assessment, backup, recovery, communication, and testing.
