Paper 3 Prompts Paper #3 will be written on your own outside of class
Choose one of the following prompts to respond to. Papers should be 800-1,000 words. Please double space, use 1 inch margins, and a 12 pt. font.
Out of the two readings we covered that discussed public education, which author do you side with the most, Gatto or Fermoyle? Why do you believe they have the best viewpoint on how K-12 education should be conducted?
Congrats! You’re the new principal of a public school, and you have the freedom to make any changes to your school that you wish. How would you reform your school? Are changes necessary? Or would you stay the course and reinforce the way things have always been done? Be sure to say why you believe in the approach you choose to take.
Reflecting on the ideas about education presented in the essays by Feynman and Freire, outline your feelings regarding their theories. Do you agree or disagree with their views on education? Why? Feel free to discuss one or both individual’s philosophies.
Compare and contrast your high school learning experiences with your college experiences thus far. Which environment do you prefer overall? Why? What were/are the benefits and shortcomings of each? Although you’re not required to do so, it’s a good idea to tie your argument back to the ideas of either Feynman or Freire if you’re able to.
