Team KAITI CHANG / Chieh Lin In this elegant and monochromatic space, the design team used laser cutting engraved metal plates, marble walls, imported floor tiles and other materials to create a modern and warm home environment. The open design of the public area and the floor-toceiling windows visually enlarged the spatial scale and also create a more natural and comfortable homey atmosphere. The special curved TV wall and sofa bring out the warmth of the wooden texture, and the choice of bricks, and the large floor-toceiling windows create a warmer atmosphere for the minimalist home style, while the ingenious detail design, smooth circulation, and noble and elegant furniture combination enhance the living quality of the residents.

Team Yang, Tzu-Yi / Yang, Chun-Chun The goal of the project is to create a modern living space surrounding by the wood logs for the life of retirement. Therefore, the design team makes the effort to simplify the design elements and arrange the public space in an open way to display a bright and clean lifestyle. Considering the personality of the client and the texture of the logs, the design team delves to the collocation between materials and the presentation of the color, carrying out a peaceful and stable texture with the visual balance.

Whether it’s the grille screen at the entry area, TV wall, sofa back wall, halls or furniture such as the dining table and display cabinet, each design highlights the client’s preference for specific elements through overlapping the composite materials, building a spatial level of variability.

The outdoor natural scenery and the artificial nature that was created by the marble wall enrich the aesthetics of the house; and the progressive spatial planning, from the entrance, guest room, dining room, kitchen, reading area, bedroom, is not only for the sake of the artwork but also the smooth and comfortable environment in order to create an exquisite and delicate space.

The three standing jewelry boxes like shoe cabinets are used as the screen in the foyer. The entire space of the house connects with the stone material lines horizontal to the flooring, while the lines and colors correspond to the arrangement of contemporary art, allowing different artworks to communicate with each other through the natural flow of spatial lines while further highlighting the individual characteristics.

Team Li Zhang, Shu Li, Yaoyun Gan, Zi Yan Wu The unique temperament of modern aesthetics is the theme of fashion and art.

The perfect combination of colors, materials, lights and shadows reproduces unique aesthetics. In the atmosphere filled with fashionable Manhattan, the walls in the space are of individual characteristics. The designer chose large format tiles with natural patterns as the decorative materials for the walls in the living room, which form a perfect correspondence with the abstract paintings on the opposite wall. The primitive natural texture created from the stone materials and the hollowed visual effects sculpted by the wooden grids are the abundance to the spatial details, while the customized chandelier hanging in the air as well as the mottled lights and shadows sprinkling down from the ceiling rather added some romantic softness to the rational and precise proportions.

The client couple, who were born in the 1970s and came from Hong Kong, also hoped to enjoy a minimalist lifestyle of “simpler is richer” in their new home: a private duplex penthouse in Royal Bay in Jieyang, an ancient city in eastern Guangdong.

The chief designer has a preference for minimalism, and while he pursues the pure artistic beauty of his works, he also expresses his thoughts on the true meaning of life in a design landscape: simplicity is beauty. Due to the recommendation of the client’s friend, the chief designer led the team and the client couple to start a journey of building a simple home.
