editor's notes I humbly thank you for you for taking a moment (from what i'm sure has been a hectic life for us all) to check out the 1st issue of Drip Magazine! Drip Magazine highlights the many creatives that thrive within the communities of color on the Secondlife platform. Though this zine is designed as a platform of creative expression that cross disciplinaries led and/or designed by POC, this is a company that welcomes all regardless of race, sexual orientation, or sexual identity. We're all about the #drip around here, and we believe that drip comes in many forms. You're each so special to the movement and we hope that you will stick around for the ride as we continue to grow together. This months edition is an example of what could be. I hope you all enjoy and keep spreading the word!

AMARA LA NEGRA In a industry predominantly overflowing with American Pop and Hip Hop celebrities, Amara La Negra has managed to carve a lane of her own in virtual entertainment. From performing her biggest hits on the "big stage" to grooming the next generation of Secondlife artist, Amara La Negra is a walking revolution with a mission to bring visibility to the real-life Amara, while spreading love.

Her celebrity roleplay as International artist and Love & Hip Hop diva; Amara La Negra was born on the alternative virtual reality platform known as “IMVU” in April of 2018 after falling in love with Amara’s AfroLatina culture and activism work in spreading visibility around racism in the Latin community. Her move to Secondlife (SL) was as recent as early 2020 and was sprung out of curiosity of the endless possibilities of elevating her celebrity RP.

"I DECIDED TO ROLEPLAY A CELEBRITY WHO WAS DIFFERENT THAN ANYONE ELSE IN THE IMVU MUSIC INDUSTRY." -AMARA LA NEGRA.

Her rise to virtual fame was no overnight success and came with many challenges and culture clashes, especially roleplaying roleplaying a newer (at the time) international artist of color. “As a Latin roleplay artist it is extremely challenging to get noticed in the music industry on IMVU. More so as a woman of color, the IMVU music industry is predominantly American; when I say American I mean mainstream; English hiphop and R&B. I personally can’t say that I have faced racial differences within the industry. It is more of a cultural difference and the Latin IMVU music industry is extremely down in numbers and does not always get noticed.”

But resilient she is, and through the struggle has also seen much success, some in forms most could only dream. Not only has her celebrity inspiration noticed her in real-life, but over time they’ve began to build a genuine relationship. “Amara has indeed noticed my art work of my celebrity avatar and followed me back on my Instagram fanpage for her on February 22nd, 2019. Her team has also noticed my work. That is one of my biggest accomplishments to date. Amara does not have many active fan pages besides my friend Julio which is an honorable mention because if it were not for him she would not have noticed me.

"HER TEAM HAS ALSO

On IMVU the celebrities get noticed through the Music RP scene, where virtual charts and award acknowledgments are key to your credibility. Amara has found this to be challenging due to the Latin & Spanish music genre is often overlooked unless you’re RPing a trending Latin-American artist; (ie; Jennifer Lopez or Cardi B.). -- After making her long awaited jump to the SL platform, Amara immediately noticed a difference in opportunities.

NOTICED MY WORK. THAT IS ONE OF MY BIGGEST ACCOMPLISH MENTS TO DATE."

“ When I made my SL debut, I immediately saw the differences in being a roleplay celeb avatar. For one, the other celebs are much more welcoming and humble and it is a more interactive celeb experience. On second life it is more hands-on and performance oriented unlike IMVU, but it is much harder to make an impact on the secondlife grid. The second life celebrity community is more tight knit. I also feel like I don’t get enough credit for the work I put in ”

January 2, 2019 is a date that Amara will never forget, and it’s the day that she realized her celebrity RP dreams as the real-life Amara La Negra would invited her into an Instagram Live video for a brief conversation and to acknowledge her work. “ She was so excited to talk to me and was very humble that I am fan page for her. A recording of that livestream can be found my Instagram page. On love hip hop, they paint her in this bad light and that is not who she is at all she is such a passionate, loving person. ”

WHAT'S NEXT FOR

AMARA LA NEGRA

"Well, that is a secret. Just kidding, I am managing virtual celebs now with Celeb Succor; my second life celeb help business and I am now signed with HBAM Records, my label home in second life. So, I got my work cut out for me. I plan on creating much more virtual content like music videos and I will be performing on a sim near you this fall." Amara La Negra

INTERNATIONAL BOXING LEAGUE

WRITTEN BY JORDAN JULES The realm of Secondlife Sports Entertainment is an often illusive world only stumbled upon by the lucky few who either participate or are real life fans of the sport. Such hidden gems exits within the SL grid that range from the virtual hard hitting action in the land of virtual wrestling to the more skillful tactics of competing in a virtual foot ball league -- but neither compare to the gut-wrenching combat you’ll experience at a LIVE virtual boxing match at International Boxing League. Originally founded on May 9, 2020 by former virtual boxing Icons Brandon Ghost, Moneyman Firethorn and Neven Anthony, the International Boxing League looks to take SL Entertainment to new limits as Co-Founder; Nevan Anthony reveals in his latest sit-down interview with Drip Magazine CEO; Jordan Jules.

ABOVE IBL Co-Founder;nevan anthony.

"We were all part of a functional boxing league until it wasn't functioning anymore and decided to create the IBL in order to keep boxing on the grid going. However, we didn't want to create something basic. We wanted to elevate the league and make it feel like real life and that's why, whenever you go to an IBL event it's a level of exclusivity.” -- Nevan Anthony; Co-Founder of IBL Unlike your traditional virtual sports event, the IBL isn’t just about what’s happening in the squared circle. The IBL intentionally creates an atmosphere that encourages guest to not only interact and cheer on their favorite competitors, but to also dress to impress in latest SL fashions for photo opportunities, contest, and more!

"WE WANTED TO ELEVATE THE LEAGUE AND MAKE IT FEEL LIKE REAL LIFE".

RACISIM IN VIRTUAL BOXING KNOW THE TIPS AND SECRETS OF THE PHILIPPINES' MOST FAMOU FASHION BLOGGERS. Though as in real-life its difficult to judge, Nevan and team have noticed a lack of support from individuals in other communities outside of People of Color when it comes to ticket sales. Nevan explains that the lack of diversity however can not be 100% pin pointed towards racism as they do see a few people who do not identify as POC in attendance sporadically however the normal audience is predominantly black and brown.

THE BIG PICTURE The goal is always provided a high source of entertainment, excitement, luxury and exclusivity with every event and trying to improve as we are fairly new. We also want to always do events but will space them out like real life. In the next 2-3 years we can't call it. We hope people continue to support. The only way we will fail is if people fail to buy tickets and come out.

WHATS NEXT FOR INTERNATIONAL BOXING LEAGUE? Intervals and EMOMS are very simple because it forces you to get the work done. It doesn’t matter if you’re tired or maybe not quite ready for that next set, when the minute rolls over – you’re starting the next set. If we’re talking about intervals we can use this beauty tactic with either the strength EMOMS are a beautiful tool to cut down your rest time if you feel like you’re sitting around too much
