Supervisors support Engineer’s Office The Tuesday, Aug. 1, Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors meeting saw some action toward filling the vacancies of the County Engineer’s Office following the unexpected passing of Interim Engineer Isaac Wiltgen, whose funeral services were held Monday. Auditor Ben Steines noted one application for the County Engineer’s position had been submitted. The board, not feeling one application was enough to hire from, unanimously vot-

ed to reopen the application process and put forth a request for proposals to explore costs of hiring a recruitment search firm to assist in finding national candidates for the vacancy. Additionally, Road Superintendent Jeff Kuboushek reported one new member of the Road Crew started this week on the Kendallville Route. He also requested to begin the hiring process to fill a foreman’s vacancy from an upcoming retirement, as it may take some

time to post the vacant positions internally and he did have some applicants to review. Supervisors voted unanimously to authorize the hiring process to begin, with Supervisor Dan Langreck assisting Kuboushek on the hiring committee for the interview process. In other news, the board unanimously approved the Audio/Visual project quote of $23,796.10 from CTI to enhance the quality of video and audio in the Courthouse Annex Building.

At the July 17 Decorah City Council meeting, council members, city staff and employees met with Michael Maloney, vice president of D.A. Davidson & Co, regarding financing solutions and analyses of municipal utilities and start-up fiber-tothe-premise (FTTP) providers to develop a plan for expansion. Currently, Decorah is home to an installed fiber ring with Metronet, but it is only available to the Decorah Metronet group consisting of Luther College, city and county offices, Decorah
