An experienced educator, Dr. Hind Louali oversees the development of the French School of Austin’s French language immersioncurriculum. In additiontoherroleasdirector ofthe school, Dr. Hind Louali serves as director and treasurer of the city’s Bonnet Bleu Théatre.
Establishedin2017,theBonnetBleuThéatreaimstocelebrate the French language in live entertainment and strengthen the role of independent theater in communities. The theater produces French plays with English subtitles, encouraging the participation of actors of all experience levels. The group cultivates a friendly, supportive environment where French speakers can hone their acting skills and generate creativity and an appreciation for the arts in the wider Austin community.
The theater’s first production, 8 Femme (8 Women), centered around a family of women in the 1950s who gather for Christmas in a remote, snowbound cottage. When they find the family patriarch Marcel dead, every woman becomes a suspect. In addition to live performances, the Bonnet Bleu Theatre also hosts acting workshops.
