In March 2020, Dreamtown set out to investigate; what exactly is Mbare, a major community that we are working with? What are the issues and opportunities? How do we communicate what kind of work we are doing? How do we show the world how vibrant, colourful and exciting Mbare is? Who are all the committed people, who strive to make a change in their community? Can we change the story so often told, about deprived neighbourhoods, and instead talk about safe, green, creative and vibrant communities?
This is a story of Mbare, told through pictures, maps and voices of young people. It is made with inputs from our partners in Zimbabwe, the House of Arts Association, with inputs from our partners in Zimbabwe, the House of Arts Association, with research data from Plan International and other existing data sources. It is not a comprehensive story but a fragment. There are much more nuances, details, and stories to be told. It is made in collaboration with House of Arts Association in Harare, Zimbabwe.
