NEXT LEVEL SENIORS PREPARE FOR COLLEGE AT APPLY DAY

The Next Level Scholars, Class of 2023 came together at the University of Michigan-Dearborn campus for Apply Day, a day designed to help students navigate the college application and financial aid process

Seniors had a busy day attending a college fair with over 40 post-secondary institutions on site. There was a lot of excitement as over 90 on-site college admissions were granted.
Students also attended a presentation where they learned further details
about the Dollars for Scholars scholarship. In addition, they heard more about the DRDFS alumni program and were able to work on and submit their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.

Finally, the seniors had some fun participating in an activity where they built a personal budget and learned financial literacy skills.
Caleb, one of the students, stated, "I am thankful to Dollars for Scholars because they opened up a lot of opportunities for me that I didn’t know I had, while also letting me explore some of those opportunities in more depth to see if they would be a good fit for me.”

NEXT LEVEL JUNIORS INSPIRED BY COLLEGE CAMPUS VISITS
Juniors from the Next Level Scholars (NLS) program visited the University of Toledo (UT) in Toledo, Ohio and Oakland University (OU) in Rochester, Michigan this fall.

During both visits, Coach Devon started the day by giving some advice about how to select a college She compared it to dating. . . as students visited the different campuses, they would discover the traits they liked versus the ones they did not The students found it to be a fitting analogy!
Representatives from the universities presented information about the school as well as the admissions process. Afterward, the students headed out for a campus tour
At UT, many students appreciated the campus feel of the university and were impressed with the beautiful grounds
and buildings They also learned of UT’s rivalry with Bowling Green and laughed about the NASA donated rocket that sits in front of UT’s football stadium aimed at Bowling Green’s 50-yard line!
It was the first time NLS visited UT, however, based on the positive reaction, it will not be the last!
With it’s sprawling campus, variety of majors and designation as a Division One college, Oakland University has been a favorite college of NLS students

for several years. During the tour, many students remarked about how much they liked the size of the university and it’s proximity to home.
As students grouped together to get pictures with the OU Grizzly, their tour guide remarked that it is a favorite photo spot for graduates and told them that they might want to hang onto the picture for the future!
Hint! Hint!
