Beach Continued from A1 million was spent to subsidize the money-losing operations of the downtown convention center. The Convention and Visitors Bureau gets $3 million for its operations. On top of the 7% HOT another 2% is added to pay for convention center bonds. So out of the total 9% HOT tax collected the downtown convention center is getting just under 5%.Most of the money raised by sales of beach parking permits on The Island comes back to The Island for beach maintenance. Revenue from beach permits in 2010 was $614,019 and $602,914 was allocated for beach maintenance. Here is a breakdown of revues and expenditures for beach activities in 2010.
