CITY OF SOUTH FULTON
Councilwoman Rowell and Councilwoman Gumbs teamed up for the third Senior Valentine’s Day Party at the picturesque 70-acre Enon Ranch. This day party draws over 300 seniors and features a delightful soiree of delectable food, soulful music, dancing, and joyful camaraderie among attendees.

Healthy South Fulton Day is a community event that encourages residents of all ages to get active and embrace healthier lifestyles. The event features a variety of activities for young people, as well as a senior zone with health services and resources, and fitness demonstrations. The goal is to provide programming that is accessible and enjoyable for everyone in the community.

NATIONAL SENIORS DAY CONFERENCE
The National Seniors Day Conference offered South Fulton seniors an engaging platform for informative sessions, fitness demonstrations, and community connection. Attendees explored vital topics like estate planning, self-care, and Medicare, alongside a broad array of services tailored for the aging population.

Councilwoman Catherine Rowell, Councilwoman Linda Pritchett, and Georgia State Senator Sonya Halpern proudly hosted the second annual Daughters of Veterans Brunch. This heartfelt 2024 program spotlighted Military Occupational Specialties, emphasizing the valuable skills veterans bring to the civilian workforce. Attendees were deeply moved by powerful testimonials from veterans and their families, gaining a deeper appreciation for their challenges and postservice successes.

Councilwoman Dr. Catherine Rowell partnered with Jacob’s Healing Hands to host a series of coordinated food drives aimed at alleviating food insecurity among vulnerable residents. These events provide fresh produce to individuals facing economic hardship. The initiative fostered community solidarity, reduced immediate hunger, and strengthened the safety net for residents in need. Special thanks to members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity and Westlake High School for providing volunteers to assist with these food drives.
In celebration of National Public Works Week, Mayor Pro Tem Linda Pritchett and Councilwoman Dr. Catherine Rowell hosted an Employee Appreciation Lunch to honor the dedication and vital contributions of city public works staff. The event recognized field crews, engineers, and administrative personnel for their year-round commitment to maintaining the city’s infrastructure, ensuring public safety, and enhancing residents’ quality of life.

STRATEGIC INFRASTRUCTURE
CULVERT/BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
The Enon Road over Camp Creek Tributary Project successfully replaced an aging culvert to improve drainage and enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians. Enhancements included upgraded stormwater management, 6-foot-wide sidewalks, and aesthetic features like stamped concrete borders.

The City of South Fulton is working with our utility companies to improve street lighting. Corridors with existing or proposed sidewalks will have both street- and pedestrian lights which include:
• Cascade Road, Danforth Road to Fulton Ind. Blvd
• Camp Creek Parkway, Old Fairburn Road to Fulton Ind. Blvd
• Enon Road, Camp Creek to Vandiver
• Fulton Ind. Blvd, Cascade Road to Riverside Drive
• Merk Road, Camp Creek Parkway to Aldredge Road
• Riverside Drive, Campbellton Road to Fulton Ind. Blvd
SIDEWALKS/PEDESTRIAN/BIKE IMPROVEMENTS
The Danforth Road Sidewalk Project is complete, adding a half-mile of 5-foot-wide ADA-compliant sidewalks from Cascade Road to Rehoboth Circle. The project also included new curb and gutter, improved stormwater management, and pedestrian lighting. Additionally, East Great Southwest Parkway (off Fulton Industrial Blvd) has been fully reconstructed with new curb and gutter and updated roadway striping.

South Fulton’s new traffic calming ordinance makes it easier for residents to improve their neighborhood safety. A key change also dedicates 25% of school-zone camera revenue to fund projects that prioritize pedestrian and cyclist safety. The City Council has lowered the petition signature threshold and expanded the list of eligible streets, with Woodside Hills and Sandtown Center already seeing new installations.
South Fulton has completed a major improvement to the Campbellton Road and Stonewall Tell Road intersection, which now features a new traffic signal and a standard four-way layout to dramatically reduce congestion and improve safety. The project was finished in 12 months and came in under budget. It adds new sidewalks, streetlights, and improved drainage at the intersection to improve accessibility and safety.
The Southwest Arts Center is undergoing a multi-milliondollar renovation that includes a roof replacement, new theater seating and flooring, a new box office, concession and kitchen area, bathroom renovations, and new interior finishes and landscaping. Renovations were completed on the Studio building at the end of 2024 that included replacement of the HVAC system, new flooring to include the dance studio, new furnishing and music equipment, and a refresh of the Black Box Studio.

Renovations have begun at Sandtown Park to include a renovated concession stand, outdoor restrooms and new fencing around the fields. Phase II will include a new skybox, reconstructed walkways and repaving of the parking lot.

Following community advocacy and a February 2023 joint town hall hosted by Councilwoman Catherine Rowell and Commissioner Khadijah Abdur-Rahman, Fulton County has launched a major initiative to extend sanitary sewer access to unserved communities. The project will lay 24,000 linear feet of sewer lines to connect 150-160 properties along the following roads: Boat Rock, Campbellton, Bruce Place and New Hope. Construction will be phased, with City-coordinated pavement restoration to minimize disruption.

Our goal is to set clear timelines, prioritize key initiatives, and ensure residents see real progress. Economic stability will be reinforced through diverse revenue streams, support for local entrepreneurs, and a commitment to financial accountability. Additionally, infrastructure projects will prioritize improvements to roads, public spaces, waste management, and transportation options, ensuring a more sustainable and well-connected City of South Fulton.

The demolition of Jackson Music at 7445 Old National Hwy marks a significant step towards the construction of the new South Fulton Police Department Headquarters and Courthouse, scheduled for completion in late 2026.
