Ruthenjoyedherlifeonthe familyfarm,workingand playingwiththeanimals, andlovedbeinginvolvedin anyactivitieshappening aroundher.
HerfirstjobwasatKnights DepartmentStorein Kyabram,whereshe workedfortwoandahalf yearsinrolesincluding accounts,switchboard operator,cashier, reception,sales,andretail. Shethenworkedforthe DepartmentofAgriculture attheKyabramResearch StationandinMelbourne for19years,mainlyin receptionroles.
Later,shespent13yearsin variousadministration roleswithFoster’sGroupin Melbourne,followedby sevenyearsworkingforan accountantinGlenIris. Akeensportsperson,Ruth playedtennisatWyuna, netballandsquashin Kyabram,andsomeindoor cricket
WhilelivinginMelbourne, sheoftenattendedthe AustralianOpentennis Ruthretiredandmoved backtoTongalain2014, wheresheliveduntilher tragicpassing.
Duringthistime,she becameavolunteer CommunityTransport DriverfortheShireof Campaspe,conveying residentstomedical appointmentsin Melbourne,Bendigo,and Shepparton ShejoinedtheTongala BowlsClubandwasa dedicatedandskilled player.
