Adventures with Hobbits, friendship and family, grief and loss, time travel and magic— movies and shows can whisk you away to a myriad of miracles and mysticism—even on subjects cemented in reality. Few other industries can compete with the incredible diversity in creativity, artistry, and ingenuity in these wonderfully gripping forms of selfexpression.
How remarkable that these stories, movies, and TV shows can deeply entrench and engulf us into worlds and lives that differ, often significantly, from our own. And how beautiful that there are so many of them in the world, that there is literally something for everyone. Pirates? You got ‘em. Documentary about the Oriental Dwarf King Fisher? You’ve got that too. A movie with pirates and an Oriental Dwarf, King Fisher? I mean, there’s got to be one, right?
As someone who grew up with a deep, unbridled love of movies and stories, I am excited to introduce this month’s issue, featuring Drax Productions, the media and production company in the Drax Group. Though we are moving away from our infancy, Drax Productions has many new projects and progresses in the works. I hope you enjoy this issue. Until next time!
With love and light,

EVENTS ON 5TH
Solo racer Fabrice Amadeo’s race boat, the Nexans-WeWise.
You’d think that waiting on a life raft for four hours after surviving a fire that consumed their boat, decimating it in under five minutes would deter one from settling foot on a vessel and braving the open ocean again ever setting foot on a vessel and braving the open ocean again Not for Fabrice Amadeo, a French journalist turned skipper and solo racer, who told us, “It wasn’t the ocean that hurt me; it was fire I wouldn’t be too fond of seeing a fire in your home, but I can’t blame the ocean for what happened when it was the very thing that saved me ”
Fabrice hopes to make an incredible comeback from the accident by completing the Vendée Globe, an acclaimed, intense race in which contestants race around the world, alone, without stopping, in three months Don’t worry; we didn’t believe it at first, either In addition to the colossal task of simply surviving (with the harsh, unpredictable weather, winds, and waters), Fabrice has committed to collecting samples of scientific data daily on his voyage, including environmental DNA (eDNA) samples for Citizens of the Sea (CotS)
eDNA is a powerful tool for monitoring the effects of climate change and our ocean
oceans' health, which we know less about than we do outer space CotS is an initiative that transformed the laborious, expensive, time-intensive process of gathering this data by equipping existing vessels with small, easy-to-use kits that allow for easy sample collection while utilizing their pre-planned routes
Of course, there is so much more to share about this incredible project and the astronomical impact these findings will have on our approach to taming climate change
As we learn how we can best amplify CotS and their mission, we all wait with bated breath as we watch Fabrice and his boat be one of the first racing for science in a race against climate change
“ My goal for this race is to finish it. Finish it for myself and, more importantly, finish it for science. “
