From your mother, Mrs. Williams ...

"Norma graduated from Southside High School in Alabama. She was in the French Club, the Beta Club, and took college courses while she l\'aS in high school. She recei1•ed scholarships from Gadsden State and finished as an AUBURN graduate in 1987. She actually began teaching at West Rome Junior High two days before she graduated.from Auburn and had to take a personal day to attend her graduation. She taught special education in Paulding and Bartow counties. Bartow is where she was named Teacher of the Year at Cass Middle School. She received t1vo Master's degrees West Georgia and JSU. She received her.final Ed.S degree from JSU in administration. My daughter married Jim in 1991. She received the PHS Teacher of the Year at Pepperell two _rears ago. But, ll'hat I am so proud of is that Norma will do anything for anybody. She lm'es doing what she does and is happy, most oft he time. When she is unhappy, you know it. But, she has been such a wonderful daughter. I could not have asked for a better daughter. I /ol'e her, and her father and I are so proud that she is getting this dedication."

Although our football team started out with a loss, they made a very successful run throughout the season. They played for the 7AA Region Championship and ended up runner-up behind Calhoun. The football team also advanced into the state playoffs.

Even though they feel short of a title, ths is a season the senior class football players will never forget. Their main goal was to play in the Region Championship game and advance to state, and that is exactly what they did. Go Dragons! See page 142 for more photos.

The Uranium Mine Activity

Ms. Ellenbur~'s Hi~h School 101 Freshmen

The Uranium Mine Activity consists of conduit pieces for each worker, a rope/tape that represents the track of the mine, a container for holding the uranium at the end, and a marble that represents the uranium. The objective for this activity is for the team to move the uranium down the track and place it into the container (the safety vault).

Communication Skills was a key factor in completing this activity. Many issues arose as the activity progressed, but it gave the students an opportunity to recognize and resolve their communication weaknesses among each other. This activity is a great tool for students in making a connection between the activity and the workplace. It helps them to understand that the ability to communicate with anyone, anywhere, about anything at anytime is crucial to success in their future.
