A library is essential to any school and few, if any, courses in the curriculum can be enriched without the use of a variety of library materials. The work of library assistants began because of the need for help in extending library services; it has continued because of the satisfaction an assistant gets from helping her fellow students. The Library Club here at Pepperell is made up of a group of girls dedicated to the motto: "We Serve to Further Knowledge." An air of courteous and helpful activity prevails in the library. The girls are anxious and willing to lend a helping hand to the students and faculty. The everyday duties and all the extra activities of the Library Club center around the purpose of "furthering knowledge."

This year the yearbook staff has created a new section, the Activities section, in our attempt to present a bigger and better yearbook. In this new section we would like to recognize the important, but usually forgotten activities at P.H. S. Though we haven't been able to highlight all the school activities, we have tried to recognize the major school activities which are open to the majority of the student body up until press time. Each event is explained with a heading and copy. Quite appropriately, we would like to open our section with a very important event at any school, Homecoming. This and the following 3 pages contain pictures of all the facets of Homecoming activities. We sincerely hope you enjoy and appreciate this and all the other phases of our new Activities section.

This year a tradition began at P.H. S. with a Powder Puff Football Game sponsored by the French and Spanish Clubs. The teams, known as the Boozeville Raiders and the Maple Street Tigers, consisted of girls from the French and Spanish Clubs and Junior and Senior classes. Each team was coached by members of the Varsity Football Team. The Tigers began the scoring with a long run by Rita Landers but the extra point fell short. The Raiders countered with a score by Branna Bright and an extra point by Alisa Godfrey. Late in the game with the score 8 to 6, the Raider's cornered and tackled the Tiger's Donna Smith in the end zone for a safety. This ended all scoring with the Raiders winning a hard fought casualty ridden game, 10 to 6.

Pep
~ Each year pep rallies cause much enthusiasm at P.H. S. They create the spirit needed for the football team to win. This year spirit was high at Pepperell, thanks to the leadership the student body received from a fine cheerleading squad. To our great student body and cheerleaders we say, Thanks.
~~
This year in our new Activities' section, we would like to highlight an imponant but unpublished event at P. H. s. , the Science Fair. This event almost died out at Pepperell, but through the efforts of the Science Club's, Mrs. Cooper, the event is once more an imponant pan of many students' school year. The Science Fair gives the experimental minded students a chance to display their talents. We would like to recognize these students. This year's winners were: 1st Place: Donna Smith; Keith Pitts and Danny Pitts, (pictured below); 2nd Place: Keith Baker; Betty Darby; Cindy Mull and Pam Strickland; and Howard Mathis; 4th Place: Darlene Shetter; Dorthy Crawford and Keith Crawford.

Despite injuries to several key players the" Dragon Machine" continued to function. An upward trend during the latter part of the season brought out the Dragon's best. The Dragons rose to defeat several high-rated area teams during this time. Under the capable leadership of Coach Wayne Huntley the Dragons exhibited a team effort throughout the season.

Each year since Wrestling started at Pepperell the sport has progressed steadily upward. This year the team had perhaps its finest season as they captured the 7-AA South Sub- Region title and placed second in the 7-AA Region Tournament. To these fine athletes we would like to express our deepest gratitude for the honors they have brought to Pepperell High School.
