INTRODUCTION

Obstetrician-Gynecologists are doctors that specialise in the treatment of women. They support expectant mothers throughout their pregnancies, during labour, and immediately following delivery. Also, they identify, manage, and stop medical conditions that affect women. A well-known obstetrician from Sydney is Dr. Max Mongelli. OB-GYN RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Obstetric Care: OB-GYNs provide prenatal care to pregnant women, including regular check-ups, ultrasounds, and monitoring the health of both the mother and the fetus. They also assist in the delivery of babies, either through vaginal birth or cesarean section, and provide postpartum care to ensure the well-being of the mother and newborn.

• Gynecological Care: OB-GYNs diagnose and treat various gynecological conditions and diseases. They perform routine examinations, such as pelvic exams and Pap smears, to screen for cervical cancer and other reproductive health issues. They also address concerns related to menstruation, fertility, contraception, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and menopause.

Reproductive Health: OB-GYNs provide guidance and counseling on family planning, birth control methods, and fertility issues. They may also diagnose and treat infertility in women, and in some cases, perform procedures like in vitro fertilization (IVF) or other assisted reproductive technologies.

• Surgical Procedures: OB-GYNs perform a variety of surgical procedures related to women's reproductive health. This can include surgeries for conditions like uterine fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, and gynecological cancers. They may also perform sterilization procedures, such as tubal ligation or hysteroscopic sterilization.
