Bookaroo, Children's Literature Festival

After having celebrated 10 years and winning the International Excellence Award at the London Book Fair last year, the Bookaroo Children's Literature Festival made its venture into Srinagar with its 5th edition on 3rd November, 2018. The festival took place at our own “Delhi Public School Srinagar with over 24 sessions for children between the age groups of 7-10. Be it stories, non-fiction, music, drama, drawing, collage-making or clay modelling there was something for every child in Bookaroo. Authors, illustrators, storytellers, arts and crafts people from the world of children’s books made books come alive during the festival yesterday.

The resource persons making children aware of different art forms, so as to make learning simpler and students become more creative and solutions oriented.

Children are gaining information about other states through multi-sensory experiential activities that are usually conducted for children with special needs.

Doodle Wall The resource persons asked children to imagine a beach scene and draw whatever they like.

The Doodle Wall gave children a chance to express themselves from beach scene to Kangri and snowfall. They got delighted to know that wonderful detailed works of art can be achieved by simply doodling.

Studio Through interactive story sessions about superheroes, kids were helped to develop imaginations, so that they would dream big.

The students drew sketches of their superheroes. As kids love magic and fantasy, they enjoyed the sessions to the fullest.

The Auditorium Captivating Story Sessions!

Children enjoyed a lot as both the stories were illustrated with perfect facial expressions and actions.

Workshop Story Session with a Flair! The story session was about a girl who doesn't hold back on the liquid diet even when she's traveling and needs to pee quite often.

Children loved the story as it was narrated with proper gestures and voice modulation.

The DEAR activity was once again organised to instill reading habit among the students and staff members and make the whole school dedicated sometime for reading, keeping everything aside.

Report Card Activity

Kindergarteners are often enthusiastic writers and they will leave writing activities into their play. It was evident while the students were writing the theme based page of the report card on 28th November. The budding writers cherished the words and note them down with the invented spelling that is normal at this age as children are translating th the e sounds of words into writing.

Children participated earnestly in the activity and their canvas segments were seen adorned with colourful images straight from their imaginations of the theme. Doremon, Thor, Barbie Doll, Tom and Jerry all were re detailed with the beautiful writing piece about “My favourite avourite cartoon character.

The class 2 buddies cherished their memories in the Tiny Tots and shared their observations through words and all it was appreciating. The activity inspired the children to think creatively and to develop their compatibility in writing as writing makes thoughts visible.

Kindergarten Keepsakes Keepsakes!

Here are my hands with ten little fingers in all. My mark in kindergarten to hang on the wall. As years go by, I will remember and say “ My hands and I had a very good day!

It’s Christmas Time! “It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the Air.”

This is the time when the world remembers the Messenger of God who gave the message of love and compassion to humanity. Christmas is in the air. A Special Assembly was conducted by Tiny Tots on this occasion. The assembly was commenced with school prayer. This was followed by beautiful Christmas Carol “Holy Night……” sung by Class 2 students in praise of the Christ. They illuminated everyone with his teachings that hold true in the present circumstances. The students also presented a beautiful song depicting birth of Jesus Christ. Santa, a student of Class 2, appeared armed with sweets. The children were ecstatic! And Santa thoroughly enjoyed the attention. Last but not the least, the students presented a rocking dance performance which held everyone captivated.

Little Authors! Once upon a time there was a big village. There were many farms, orchards, rivers and trees. But other villagers were getting jealous of them. They came to cut all orchards and trees. But a boy who wanted to save trees came in front of them. He said to them hey if you will cut these trees it will be DANGEROUS! But they didn’t stop. They said to boy get away otherwise we will kill you. They pulled out their guns and killed him. Then they attacked the trees. After sometime they finished their work. But after a second they couldn’t breathe. And they died.

Butterfly butterfly come to me, I will teach you how to be funny. It’s fun to make people laugh, And make them happy with your talk. When you will learn how to be gay, You will come to me and say, I love you for what you teach me, It made me what was meant to be. Abu-Baker II D

Minnie hid herself behind a bushy tree. Suddenly she heard roar of Lion, she got scared and started sweating. She tried to call Nicky, but she couldn’t. Lion was coming nearer. She started shouting Help! Help! Help!. Nicky heard her voice and ran towards Minnie. She took a large stick in her hand and ran towards Minnie. She pulled Minnie and threw the stick at Lion.
