“A Day of Adventure”
One day I went to Gulmarg with my family. It was a bright and beautiful day. Everything was so pleasant. I was wearing my favourite blue shirt and black pants. At Gulmarg, there were beautiful flowers everywhere. I was very excited as we took a Gondola ride. Everything was going on so beautifully. However, as we came out from Gondola ride, we saw a big bear approaching us. He was running so fast towards us. We also started running fast. During that chaos I lost sight of my family. All I could see was a giant bear running after me. I ran very fast, but the bear was even faster. It held me so tightly. I could not free myself. I got very scared. I shouted, screamed, yelled and cried loudly for help. To my surprise, I found my mother next to me and she asked, 'What happened? Why are you shouting?' I looked here and there puzzled and found that I was in my bedroom. After a few seconds, I realized that it was a nightmare and I laughed and said to my mother, ‘everything is alright.'

“Magic with Compost” One day during the Covid-19 lockdown when the schools were shut, I was taking a walk outside my house and came across my neighbor. Usually a jolly person, he was looking sad. I went to him and asked, "Uncle, why are you looking so sad? Is there anything I can do for you?" He looked at me and said, "Dear child, this is a difficult time. As you know, I am a vegetable grower. Even though I used so many fertilizers, my crops are not growing well. It is becoming difficult for me to make a living." Hearing this, I felt bad for him. I wanted to help him somehow. I asked him if he could show me his farm, to which he agreed. On arriving at his farm, I saw that the crops were in bad condition. It was sad to see the crops on his farm—which looked dry, rotten and stale. Enquiring further, I asked him what he used on his crops. "Nothing. Just the usual synthetic fertilizer and pesticides," he responded. This made me think and I asked him if I could give him an idea. He was happy to hear my idea. I told him about a lesson on waste segregation that my teacher had taught me and that I had made a compost bin for my winter assignment. Luckily some compost tea was ready for use. I told him about how he can use cow dung as manure and how with the help of kitchen waste, he can compost himself and use it instead of fertilizer. Fortunately, he took my advice and applied it to his new crop. Three months later, he came to me with a bag full of fresh green vegetables and thanked me for the advice I had given him. He took me to the farm. When I saw that his crops were well grown, fresh and healthy, I was filled with joy.

School after Pandemic The day has come I was waiting for, welcoming students one and all. At the school gate I do stand tall, with high spirits - to rise and never fall. Rushing to the classrooms from everywhere, each one of us happy as we approach near. Teachers with smiling faces greeting us there, it looks nothing less than a funfare. Discipline, punctuality and a targeted aim, would be our guiding principles once again. Happy to be in school and no more time in vain, the best part of our life would start now again.
