07 MAY

N

obody knew what this event is all about coz it was their very first time in the valley. A month before preparations were been made. In came mails from Delhi telling us what they required. Venues were to be setup …. Not 1 … not 2 but seven of them. Names for the venues were had to be kept Atrium, Pachakatha, Stadium, Studio, Workshop, Crafty Corner and Doddle Wall. Then a list of Artist who were going to be a part of this event. They were 20 of them writers, illustrators, crafts master and a singer. The whole school came into action. Teachers were being given tasks , volunteers were been chosen and at the end a Hugh banner was standing at the gates of DPS Srinagar that read …. “ BOOKAROO first time in Srinagar.” It was 7th of May , there was excitement in the air. At 10:30 the Atrium at Tiny Tots was full of children. Arjum was standing there playing his guitar and Jeeva was narrating her story. All the students were shouting and were excited as the narration went on. In this way each and every venue was occupied by artists and children.

You could find children everywhere at every venue. Some listening to the story and some learning how to create comic books. Some were testing their painting skills at the doodle wall while some were creating art at the crafty corner. The whole school was colorful and joyous and no one knew how day 1 ended. The other day there were children with their parents telling them their first day experiences at the Bookaroo. You could see little ones pulling their parents to the venues. It was yet another busy day and a total different experience for children and their parents.
