BOOKAROO
The two-day Bookaroo Children’s Literature festival, conducted by DPS Srinagar for the sixth time in succession concluded on a successful note today. The festival – held on 3rd and 4th November – had 80 sessions conducted by 21 speakers from 6 cities in India and one from Sri Lanka. With book readings, storytelling, drama, two sessions on Qissebaazi, crafts, illustrations workshops and even a battle between two illustrators thrown in, Bookaroo Srinagar was a buzz of activity. All the sessions witnessed enthusiastic participation and students got their books signed by their favourite authors with whom they had interacted. Each session was carefully crafted to address children from age 6 to age 13. Each speaker had his – or her – own way of stimulating the children without making it boring. Stories from fiction, stories from real-life, school stories and stories of ancient fables lit up the two days. More splashes of colour came from the Doodle Wall, a celebration of art. Alistair R A Freese, Principal, who witnessed the event the first time was full of praise for the festival. We considered the festival as a great starting point to become a booklover if you aren’t one already.”
CHILDREN’S DAY
Delhi Public School, Srinagar celebrated November 14, 2018, Children’s Day, which marks the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India – Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru with enthusiasm and zeal, keeping in mind his words, “I may not have time for adults, but I have enough time for children.” Class Party was organized by the students from each section. They decorated their classes with buntings, balloons and other decorative stuff . Students enjoyed to the fullest. The class party was followed by DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) Activity. To highlight and inculcate the love of reading, DEAR activity was conducted in the school. Students and the staff members were alerted by a bell which announced the starting of DEAR activity. Everyone dropped all their routine work and dedicated the time for reading their favourite book. During this one hour, the entire school became a big reading room and students and staff was seen engrossed in reading. After the activity Story telling session was conducted by Ms. Monisa Khursheed for the students of class 5. The motive behind it was to bring smiles on the faces of children.
INTER HOUSE QUIZ COMPETITION
An Inter-house Quiz competition was organized by the school on November 9,2018 . The Quiz began with the introduction of the contestants and explanation of the rules by the Principal Mr. Alistair R A Freese, also the Quizmaster for the quiz. Every round was a mixed bag with questions from history, sports, books, languages, vocabulary and science. The final round, the Rapid-fire round gave the teams a chance to catch up with leaders and put-up a tough fight. The winners were then awarded with merit certificates by Ms.Bilques Qadir and Ms.Monisa Khursheed. This quiz truly was a learning experience for both the audience and the participants. कोजशश एक बार एक आदमी एक हाथी को ले िा रहा था।दूसरा आदमी इसे देख रहा था ।उसे बहुत
سامنا کرے نفرت کے طوفان کا ساتھ اُسکے سچ سس جیسے سامان کا
आश्चयग हुआ कक इतना जवशाल िानवर इस हल्की सी रस्सी से बंधा िा रहा है । उस आदमी ने हाथी के माजलक से कहा कक यह कै से संभव है कक इतना जवशाल िानवर एक हल्की सी रस्सी को नहीं काट पा रहा है और तुम्हारे साथ चल रहा है । हाथी के माजलक ने बताया िब यह हाथी बच्चे होते हैं तो इन्हें रस्सी से बााँध कदया िाता है । उस समय यह रस्सी को काटने की कोजशश करते हैं और रस्सी को काट नहीं पाते हैं । बार-बार कोजशश करने पर भी वे उस रस्सी को काट नहीं पाते और बड़े होने पर कोजशश करना ही छोड़ देते हैं । नाम- नूहा लतीफ कक्षा – 6th A

مغرور آدمی
ایک دفعہ ایک امیر آدمی کا نوکر بدبودارجوتے پہنتا تھا کیوں کی اس کے پاس کوئی جوتا نہیں تھا۔امیر آدمی اُس کو روز یہ جوتے پہننے کے لئے منع کرتا تھا۔ مگر وہ کہتا تھا کہ ‘‘جو توں میں نے میری جا ن بچائی ، کچھ دنوں بعد یہ نوکر مر گیا اور مر نے سے پہلے اُس نے یہ جوتے مالک کو دئے اور کہا کہ یہ جوتے آپ کے کام آئے گے’’۔ مالک نے جوتے پھینکنے کی کوشش کی مگر وہ جوتے واپس آجاتے تھے۔مالک ن,ے جوتوں کو جالنے کی کوشش کی جس سےمحل میں آگ لگ گئی اور اُس کا سارا مال وجائیداد جل گیا۔ان جوتوں کے بغیر اس کے پاس کچھ نہیں رہا۔ ان جوتوں کوپہن کر وہ بھاگ گیا اس دن یہی جوتے اس کے کام آئیں۔ سیف باز جماعت پنجم جی
