It is my great pleasure to welcome you to DPAC

Like so many Durham residents, I recognize the jewel that DPAC is to Durham and the Triangle region.

I’m thrilled to say that DPAC, after more than a decade, is continuing to showcase the energy, the passion and great entertainment with a list of performances that people will travel from miles around to see.

This season will feature some of the biggest Broadway, concerts, comedy shows and special events to ever take the DPAC stage. You won’t want to miss the premieres of Disney’s biggest new hit, FROZEN and the winner of ten Tony Awards®, including Best Musical, Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

A fan fa orites and first time erformers will also e ta in the sta e throughout the upcoming season, including Brandi Carlile, The Temptations and The Four Tops, Steve Martin and Martin Short, and the original Jersey Boy, Frankie Valli

And as usual, all the trappings that come with seeing a Broadway show or concert at DPAC still await you, starting with the beauty of the theater and DPAC’s legendary customer service. A visit to DPAC is an open invitation to experience Durham. It’s as easy as parking and walking to downtown restaurants, or taking a short drive to nearby malls, museums, or historical sites.

As your mayor, I’m so excited that one of my duties is to officially welcome you to one of the greatest theaters in the world! But don’t take my word: Just this year, DPAC was ranked 1st and 2nd in the country by national theater reviewers and magazines, including Venues Today and Pollstar. Thank you for choosing DPAC and Durham. Now settle into your seats to enjoy your DPAC experience and an unforgettable show.

“Welcome to DPAC…”

ince o enin in , o er fi e million uests ha e heard that reetin as they walked through our doors to experience blockbuster Broadway shows, worldclass concerts, superstar comedians, and many special events including dance, speakers, holiday performances and family shows.

e cele rated our fi e millionth uest milestone last e ruary and it was a si nificant reminder of how im ortant you are, our members and guests. We called this past season, our “Comeback Season” and more than you know we appreciated your words of support, your attendance, and even your patience as we did our best to reopen and juggle a sense of both safety and normalcy.

Big shows have graced our stage in the past and we have many more big events planned for this season and beyond. But even with the biggest show on our stage, DPAC would seem empty to us without having you in the audience, in the moment with family and friends, experiencing the magic and power of live entertainment.

As I write this welcome note, DPAC is ranked among the best theaters in America by three national publications (Venues Now - #1, Pollstar - #2, Billboard - #5). Back in the summer of 2021 as we worked toward reopening there were many unknowns, but each day we kept moving forward with the understanding that it was important that we come together again to share the performances, the songs, the stories, the smiles and laughs, and even sometimes the tears, that live events bring to us in a way that no other entertainment form can.

On behalf of my team at DPAC and our parent companies, Nederlander and Professional Facilities Management (PFM), we invite you to celebrate live with our 14th season and the incredible diversity and variety of the over 250 performances that will grace our stage.

“Welcome to DPAC, we’re glad you are here.”

Sincerely,

Help Local Students Experience Their First Ever Broadway Show

Discover Broadway offers Truist Broadway members a way to donate tickets so their valuable seats do not go unused.

Thanks to the generosity of DPAC’s Truist Broadway members, hundreds of tickets have been donated to deserving students from high schools and universities located throughout Durham. For many, these seats provided opportunities for students to experience their first e er roadway show

For those that we serve through this program, these opportunities are more than just a ticket, they are a chance to experience something that could inspire goals and dreams for the future.

Here is how you can donate:

• If you know in advance that you cannot attend a show, or even if one member of your party will not be joining you, simply contact DPAC at DiscoverBroadway@dpacnc.com.

• You will receive an acknowledgment from DPAC that your unused tickets will be transferred to an area student.

• DPAC will handle all other details and provide instructions to the recipient on how to access their tickets.

Please note: Ticket donations must be made at least 72 hours prior to the performance date. Discover Broadway donations do not provide tax donation receipts.

At DPAC, we’re committed to Guest Courtesy. Please remember to be a good neighbor to those seated around you.

After The Performance

Yes, the lobby gets busy and the parking lots can be tricky, but please remain at your seats until the houselights come up.

As a courtesy to the performers and other audience members, DPAC asks that you do not rush for the exits prematurely at the end of the performance.

Entering and Exiting the seating area

Please time your exits and re-entry to the seating area to occur only at intermission or breaks between songs. This is a courtesy to other guests around you who will appreciate you keeping these disruptions to a minimum.

Kids at DPAC

Please note that all guests require a ticket, regardless of age. Children under the age of 6 are not allowed at most DPAC performances including Broadway, Concerts and Comedy shows.

For some shows, DPAC will make recommendations on the appropriate minimum age based on the content and the length of the event. Parental discretion is always advised and judgment of the appropriateness of the content for each show should be made on an individual basis prior to purchase.

Children must be able to sit quietly in their own seat without disturbing other guests. As a further courtesy to our guests, DPAC recommends one parent or chaperone for every one child in attendance.

It Can Wait

Please save texting until AFTER the show. The light from phones is distracting to others throughout the theater. Please keep them turned off.

It’s Superstar Entertainment, Not a Food Fest

Small snacks and drinks are welcome in the seating area, but as a courtesy to those around you, eat and drink as quietly as possible. Please know that odors and noisy wra ers can distur others e also as that you finish sandwiches or other lar e food items before entering the seating area.

Photography / Video Recording Using Mobile Phones

At DPAC, each event that we host determines their own policy on photography and video recording using mobile phones.

Please note that GoPro’s, tablets, and cameras of any kind are prohibited at all DPAC events.

All Broadway shows prohibit photography and video recording.

Quiet Please

Once the show starts, please let the stage be the center of attention. We ask that you turn off all cell phones and limit conversation. If children are attending this performance with you, please exit the theater immediately if they become restless or talkative.
