Congratulations on qualifying for the Wisconsin Interscholastic Alpine Racing Association’s 51ST Annual Wisconsin High School Ski & Snowboard Championships at Mt. La Crosse, La Crosse, Wisconsin, on Saturday, Sunday, & Monday, February 14th-16th, 2026. PROCEDURES :: EACH SKI and SNOWBOARD TEAM SHALL CONSIST OF NO MORE THAN SEVEN (7) MEMBERS. However, no more than six (6) and no fewer than four (4) members of each team may compete in each team event. Running orders may be different for each event.
SC ORING
INDIVIDUAL SCORING A. First, the time of a racer will determine his/her place in each event. Second, the total of the places achieved by the racer in each of the events will indicate his/her place in the overall standings. The lowest number will represent first place, the second lowest will represent second place, etc. Finally, in the overall standings, ties will be broken by adding the racer’s times in each event. The lowest times will represent first place, etc. TEAM SCORING B. Individual times of each SKI and SNOWBOARD racer will be recorded and placed numerically. The four fastest finishes per team will be added together to determine the total place points for that team in each event. The team with the lowest team place points will earn first place, the second lowest will earn second place, etc. Each team’s combined place points from each event will determine the team’s overall standing in the Championships. Ski teams will feature two divisions based on enrollment with teams predetermined prior to the event. TIES C. Individual single event: There is no tie breaker. If two people get the same time, they remain tied for that place. Team single event: Add up the total times of the 4 top racers among the tied teams for that event. Individual Overall results: For the tied racers, add up each one’s times for all three events. Team Overall results: Add up all the times for the 4 top racers of each event. PENALTY POINTS D. Each DNF/DQ finisher will receive 200 race points in the specific event of the fault. This penalty will also carry over to that racer’s place in the overall standings. It will also be factored into the team’s place points in that event and in the team’s overall standing if the team has fewer than four clean finishes.
MEDALS & TROPHIE S:
As described in scoring, trophies in the ski events will be awarded to the first, second, and third place overall boys and girls teams and to the first place overall individual boy and girl. Each member of the top three overall teams in each division will be awarded a medal based upon standings. Medals will also be awarded to the top five individuals per event. Trophies in the snowboard competition will be awarded to the first, second, and third place overall boys and girls teams and their members will receive medals. First-place trophies will be awarded to the top overall individual boy and girl and medals awarded to the top three individuals per event.
ALL-STATE TEAM:
All-State Ski Team will consist of 12 boys and 12 girls and will travel members of Team Wisconsin to compete in the Western High School Ski Championships at Loveland Ski Area in Dillon, CO. At this point, there is no inter-state high-school team racing competition for snow-boarders. An All-State selection of Snowboarders will be announced based on individual placements in each event. The top 3 finishers in Boarder SL, GS, and BX will be named, and eligible to purchase the All-State Team Jackets. A Message from the Presiding Officer of the WIARA Committee Welcome to all the athletes, families, coaches, volunteers, and fans of the 2026 Wisconsin Alpine Race Association Championships at Mt. La Crosse. This is the 51st year of the championships and the 33rd year hosted by Mt. La Crosse. This is the largest high school ski racing championship event in the country. It is also the only one that has a Jumbotron and is broadcasted on the World -Wide Web. We keep hearing from other states that they are very envious of our Championship This will be my last year as the presiding officer of WIARA. It has been a pleasure and an honor to serve WIARA and its members. I have had the pleasure of working with some strong, dedicated board members over the years. I would like to thank all of them for their hard work and friendship! That said, it’s time for new blood to lead the organization to an even higher level. I would like to thank Kathy Frise, Jeremiah Burish, and Kristi Koch for all of the fundraising and organizing of this event and our board meetings. All three do so much behind the scenes. I would also like to thank our entire WIARA Steering Committee for the insight and guidance to continue to improve the athlete and spectator experience. A special thank you to all of our sponsors, especially our tier-one Sponsors: First Supply, Gerhard’s Kitchen and Bath Stores, Mathy Construction Company, and Explore La Crosse. Without their support and the support of all of our other sponsors (listed in our program), we could not host such a great event. Last of all, I would like to thank the Mt.
